Sierra 40gr Varminters

Post by jrwoitalla »

Midway had Sierra 40gr Varminters in 223cal on sale for $12.99 last month and since I trust Sierra bullets, I bought 500. It was a gamble buying economy bullets. I loaded some up with 2230C and #400 primers: some at 26.5gr and some at 27.5g. Both made 0.4" 5 shot groups consistently @ 100yds. Thought ya'll would like to know about a decent and inexpensive bullet out there for 223cal shooters. With a little tweaking I bet they could be squeezed down to 0.3", well within a minute of squirrel.

+1, those 40gr Sierras have been working very well for me too, very accurate and VERY explosive in my .223 Rem. :D

They shoot great for me as well and are tough on squirrels and rock chucks.
