I am reloading some 308 win rounds. heres my question, at 42.9 grains I am compressing the H4895 powder. my reloading books say max load is at 43.5 grains. I really dont think that 43.5 would come close to fitting in the remington brass. I am loading the sierra matchkinks in 168 grain. I have check the scale and its spot on. I started at 42 grains and worked up by .3 grains so I have 42, 42.3, 42.6,
and I quit at 42.9 grains I will try these at the range and look for pressure sign but I am confussed why the manuals are not indicateing a compressed load. should I be concerned or not, I hope one of the loads I have worked up will fill the bill in the accuracy department.

Are you shooting these in a gas gun or bolt gun? About 42.4 gr of H4895 is about as high I'll go. Just this past Monday, I was testing Varget 44, 44.5 and 45 grs with CCI-200, Rem 91/2 Mag and WLR (nickel coating, I did the same with H4895 last week)) and the WLR primers were to flat for my taste and in a couple of rounds at 45 grs, the bolt was mighty snug (clue #1, flat primers clue #2).

Also, some primers (Rem 71/2's) tend to hide pressure signs better than others.

Might want to try some Winchester 760.....it just might surprise you in several nice ways (2800+ fps and less than MOA accuracy). The bonus of 760 - ball powder.
