I have not reloaded the volume of cases for any other caliber as the 204. So there for never dealt with this question. I am getting ready to empty a pound of H4895. I can get maybe 2 and a (half) loads out of it. Should I just throw away the half or pour a new can on top of it? The new can came from a different store and is about a year newer. It makes no diff. to me if I toss 10 grains or so. I just want to know if it is a safe practice.

Friend of mine not only mixed powders but also blended them!!! It bent his yellow boy like a banana,he then tried it in his broom handled mauser. As they carried him away on a stretcher someone asked him what powder he had used and he said( this was about 30 years ago) he had blended some RED DOT with some other powder. On being told you can't blend powders he replied ......Well they blend tea don't they? KB. PS. This is true.

If you are adding the 'left overs' from the same brand and designate number, you should be alright.... I've done it numerous times with W-748, etc..

If, on the other hand, they are two different powders as to brand/number, then don't take the chance regardless of how much/little you are mixing...

I use the same powder, but I never mix them. I use it until it is gone then start with new. My brother in law will mix his old and pour into the new, but it is the same type.....

It is more H4895 on top of the old. I know better than to mix or "blend" 2 or more powders.
