I am needing a load for my Savage LRPV 22-250. It is a 1 in 9 twist. I have the 69 grain Sierra HPBT bullets that i want to try, but do not know where to begin on powers. Any help would be appreciated!
Also, Sierra says not to hunt with the matchking bullets, but I cannot find any other type of Sierra bullets that will be around a 70 grain bullet. Can i hunt with these bullets? I am wanting the load to do some long range prairie dog shooting.
Thanks for all your help!!

My 22-250 works well with W760. H380 has also been OK.

My 22-250 Ruger Model 77 likes, 55 gr Balisstic Tip Noslers and 39 grains of W760. start lower and work up slowly.

I use 50 and 55 grain Sierra BlitzKings with my 22-250 for prairie dogs and they work great. Any special reason why you want to use the heavier bullets? I think one of the main reasons Sierra doesn't recommend the MKs is because they don't expand well and overall just aren't designed at all for shooting game.
For powder I use Varget and H380.

I'd guess, because he got the 1-9" twist barrel, that he wants the heavier bullets for long distance shooting
, the BC of the 69 is pretty good, and good for longer range stuff. To that end, I'd suggest the slower powders for that purpose, starting with Varget and H-380, but 4350 might work, too. As far as I know, there isn't any published data for the heavier bullets, unless you have an old Speer manual, they made (might still make) a 70 semi- spitzer for deer hunting, and IIRC, there is some data for .22/250 and that bullet. Dropping the charge back and starting with their data might just get you someplace.
Every time I think about getting one of those, or building something like it, I get to thinking, when that bore gets rough, it's gonna eat the jackets off everything that goes through it.
That's what keeps me from going ahead and doing something about it. It's still a viable idea, though, and ought to give prairie dogs fits. I'm still thinking about it, too.

Work up to 36.5 grains of H4350 with a 75 grain Amax, CCI 200 primers, Win cases. Shoots great and has less wind drift.

Hello everybody,
I am sorry for just getting back to you all. I wanted the heavier bullets to shoot longer distances. I have my Ruger and Savage .204's for prairie dogs up to 350 yards or so. I wanted something to make some 400 yard shots possible. I have the H 4350, H 4895, and IMR 3031 to play with. How do the 50-60 grain bullets hold up for long range shooting?
Thanks for all of your help
