What are the advantages of the comp seater dies with the mic adjust. What is gained over standard dies and are they worth the price. Which brand do you recommend. thanx

broke: They offer a sliding sleeve that perfectly aligns the bullet prior to seating/entering the case to eliminate any possbility of runout (axial misalignment). The mic adjustment allows you to fine tune the seating depth in .001" increments to meet the lands, or keep the ogive off the lands an exact amount, based on your individual chamber.
I was getting up to .005" TIR with standard RCBS dies in my varmint calibers, then reduced that to .000", or most of the time about .001" to .0015" or thereabouts using the excellent Redding Competition Seater dies and their bushing F/L and neck dies. Whenever setting up a new caliber now, Redding is always my personal choice. Many have had good fortune using Forester BR dies too.
The only way to get better performance is to use an arbor press with Wilson dies, but for the amount of rodent fodder I load for in all my various varmint rifles and calibers, the 7/8" Redding dies are the hot setup. My .02......
