6mm Remington Light Bullets

My .244 and 6mm Remington (I have one of each) have been fed 80-95 gr. bullets for years and done well. I came across some 55 gr. Nosler Varmageddon and 58 gr. V-Max and wanting to give them a try.

Anyone have any experience using light bullets in this caliber? I would normally just try a few different powders maybe even trying different primer combinations.

In todays climate, trying multiple combinations does not make a lot of economical sense.

JW, I tried the 55gr BT in both my 243 Win and my 243AI. Blistering speeds, but mediocre accuracy. The terminal effect on PD's and squirrels was remarkable as would be assumed though.

Worth a try, but doubtful they will become part of a coveted "Pet Load". Your fndings may differ, but that's my experience with them in the 6mm bore.

Exactly what I found Rick. I went searching for those scorching velocities with my 6mm Rem... Got 'em. But... Accuracy has been considerably better with 75 - 105 grain bullets from that rifle, a 1974 vintage Remington 700 BDL.

I was hoping that I could get H380 to stack these in an acceptable group. Wasn't to be. Will still try some different powders as they become available. That's the fun right. Was also a .243 not 6 rem.

Guy,

Really have been enjoying your guest appearances on Ultimate Reloader. Keep it up an also Gavin.

I have to second your findings because I had the same results.
