Other 20 caliber

Post by jsh »

Is there a list of current 20 caliber bullet makers any where?
I am building a 20BR and looking for some 50+ grain bullets.
TIA

Don't know of a list, per se, of 20 caliber bullet makers. But most all of them, other than Sierra ( I believe) make some, plus custom makers i.e. Hammer, Blackhole and others also. Google 20 caliber bullets/makers and I think you find plenty to buy from. :)

Appreciate the thought Bill, I have googled with no luck on the heavies. And, I well know Sierra,Nosler, Berger, Hornady, etc for run of the mill up to a 40.

Blackhole, Unmussig, Hammer, BIB only 40 grain. I know there are a few more, lost all my info.

jsh: Keep in mind that the bullet makers make bullets in popular weights for the various calibers. So as the vast majority of factory 204 Ruger rifles come as a 12 twist, they are not suitable for the 50gr+ bullet weights, so why tool up for something that would have little or no profit?

It's all about profit, and the number of 12T barrels out there compared to the amount of custom fast twist barrels that could shoot the heavy bullets is pretty lob-sided, as no rifle maker that I'm aware of offers anything faster than a 10T; Thompson.

Two options:
Find a custom maker online. (You'll find one at Saubier.com forums)
Look at Corbin bullet making dies and do it yourself.

Let us know how it all shakes out.

So true, we may want something and wish manufactures had such products, but it boils down to supply and demand and what sells the most.

As mentioned a person may have find a custom maker and see what they can do for the want, or order dies and start making your own. :D
