I have a howa 1500 with a 20 inch bbl. 1 in 9 inch twist. using 69 grain nosler custom competition and 23.2 grains of ar-comp I have put as my best all time group at 100 yards 4 rounds that measured .164"!! not all of my groups are that good but over all they are always quite good groups with that load I use exclusively rem 7 1/2 primers. I also shoot that load in my AR with nearly identical groups. the AR also has a 1 in 9 inch twist--16 inch bbl.

Why not shoot 5 shot groups? I don't think 4 shot groups really tell the truth about how well you or your rifle really shoot. Are you afraid that your groups will open up. I am not being a critic here, just curious. Just an observation. I am shooting a Howa in 204, so I know how well they shoot, with a little load work, and testing with 5 shot groups.

I have four 1500 Howas.. 30-06, 22-250, 204R & one that was a 204 R, that is now a 20SCC, Bob Green cut the barrel down to 20 in. and re-chambered that one to the 20 SCC. All shoot very well, and I usually fire either a 3 shot or 5 shot for group checking. What ever makes you comfortable have at it. You will enjoy your Howa, and probably purchase more. I am presently thinking about one of their new mini actions.. Bill K :)

Walt, that's an awesome group. Out of curiosity, what did the 5th shot make it? I've had a few like that in my 22-250 but I hate the powder, H380. You just never know how it's going to act. Is the 1-9 AR a RRA Coyote by any chance? My 1-9 Coyote shoots really fantastic for factory. Keep in with the great work,
