20VT: Anneal after forming?

Post by dan97526 »

Finally getting the 20VT going. I'm a bit confused as to when to anneal cases (I'm using Rem 221 FB cases). Do I anneal after the initial necking down, after fireforming, or just after x firings after the brass shows signed of having work-hardened?

Thanks,
Dan

It may not be necessary, but per the advice of TK, I've always annealed my brass after forming and prior to the first firing. I've done this with my 17M4, 17AH, 22 KH, 20VT and to date have not lost a case....really.

Once you don't feel any resistance upon drawing the case from the sizing die, it's for sure time to anneal.
