Re: 17 Fireball and RL-10X
20 grain remington factory stuff. I was rather surprised how well it shot. In my old SPS varmint it would consitently shoot between 1/2 - 3/4" for 5 shots but no better. The UMC 25 grain load is not far behind, the last group I shot put 4 into a slightly larger than 17 cal hole with the 5th about a 1/4" out. Not bad for factory ammo. Tried a test batch of ammo with H335 and came away rather unimpressed. The best group I managed was with the book max charge of this powder and the hornady 25 grain hollowpoint which went a whisker over an inch. The rest was 1 1/4 - 1 3/4" for 5 shot groups. Going to try the same powder charges with the 25 grain Vmax and see if this bullet will work any better. It was rather windy on sunday which probably did not help my cause. Still have yesy loads with 4 other powders ready to go when my range dries up a little and the wind dies down I will be back at it.
