Old Nosler 25-cal Solid Base Bullets

Post by Bunnybuster »

Does anyone have an old Nosler reloading manual handy, that they could look up the Ballistic Coefficient, and Sectional Desnity, for the old style 120-gr, 25-cal, solid base bullets in? I need the info to work up the balistic table for some reloads.

Also, if anyone has any sitting on the shelf they would be willing to part with, I would be ineterested in buying them.

Bb-- The best I could do on the net is from Nosler's website. The 120gr Partitions have a BC of .391 & the SD is 260. HTH

BB: I've got all six of Nosler's manuals (all autographed by John himself too..... :D ), and in No. 2 Manual, the old 120gr BT solid Base bullet has a BC of .471, and SD of .260.

Best velocities from this 1981 manual with this bullet in the .25-06 were with Norma Magnum Rifle (3,147 fps), now unavailable, but next best was IMR 4831 using a max load of 52.0grs for 3,089fps (Hart 26" barrel).

Hope this helps, and you can extrapolate data for the .25 caliber you're loading for.

Rick, if my chromograph is right, I'm getting 2976, out of my 257-Ackley Improved. This is running 46.0-gr of IMR-4350, with a 24-in barrell. The primers are a bit flattened, but not badly.

Now that I have the BC and Sectional Density, I can run it through the ballistic software and calc the wind drift and drop, out past 300, (I shot out to 300, so I know what to expect out that far).
