Hornady 25-cal Neck Sizer for the 257-AI???

Post by Bunnybuster »

Can anyone tell me if the Hornady 25-caliber neck sizing die will work with the 257 Roberts Ackley Improved 40-degree?

I would to prefer to neck size only, and will be reloading for my 257AI, and for freinds rifles in 250 Savage, and 257 Roberts.

So, if I could get one neck sizing die that will work for all three it will save me a bit of coin.

I have Hornady neck size dies in 22 and 24 cal. They are adjustable to handle from 221 Fireball to 220 Swift AI and 6 PPC to 6mm-06. I would think a 25 would handle the cases you mention with no problem.

Bunnybuster.........for what its worth, I use a Lee collet die in 300WBY for my custom 300 wby imp........with a 40* shoulder. This die has room for the improved case and still neck sizes only. This might be worth a look if they make one in 257?

I got a response from Hornady tech support; They say it has a very steep angle to handle the wildcat cartridges, and will work well.

So I guess I need to get one ordered.

Deer season will be here soon, and I want to finish my range work before the "3 out of 5 on a paper plate, once a year, means you can try 400 -yd shots on elk" guys, take over the range.
