204 velocities

I'm new to the forum, but have frequented the site for about three months now and have really found the information helpful and have enjoyed the comments. I am shooting the 204 in the Howa 1500 and can not get the gun to shoot faster than 3900ft/sec. with 32gr. bullets. What kind of velocities are you guys getting with 32grnrs? Thanks for your comments.

What barrel length is that?

It's a 22 inch barrel

The best i`ve managed is 4058fps with 30.7grains of BL(C)2.That is also with a 22 inch barrel on my lvsf.In my opinion the only way you will get close to the factory figures with a 22 inch barrel is by going well over max load,and i personally wouldn`t want to do that.The only thing i would recomend is to use one of the quicker powders like benchmark.It`s what i`ve started to use,but unfortunatly i haven`t managed to chrono yet,due to the weather .Hope this helps,Jamie.

I also have a Howa 1500 (varminter supreme). With a 32 V-Max using 28.6 gr. of RL 15, I get right at 4000. If I go up to 29.0 gr. of RL 15 I can get 4100, but it is most accurate with the 28.6 gr..

With 40 gr V-Max I get great accuracy with 26.8 to 28.8 of RL 15 and 3640 fps.
