Re: My AR is finally here!!!

I've got a Williams set trigger (http://www.williamstriggers.com/) in the AR I build last year and love the thing. It breaks cleanly right around 3 lbs without using the set feature and once I set the trigger, it drops down to 1 1/2. I took it out to the prairie dog fields last June and did some dam...

Silver Weaver Handgun Classic 4x28 mm

I've got a Silver Weaver Handgun Classic 4x28 mm that I am not longer using (switched to a red dot). This scope was carried one deer season on my S&W .41 Mag. I've decided in the timber I hunt, a scope isn't needed. The scope has a couple faint ring marks on the bottom side of the scope, I've tr...

Re: Wilson Case Trimmer operation question

Sinclair makes an accessory they call the "Sharkfin" which is a clamp attachment for the Wilson trimmer and their stand. Works like a champ!

Re: New Cooper

Captqc

Very sweet rifle. I'm looking at the Cooper Phoenix as well however mine will be something larger like a 6.5x284 or the .260. I got to handle a couple Phoenix's while at Scheels in Iowa City last weekend and few in love. Keep us posted on how she shoot!

Re: 6.5 x 284

On my way up to northeast Iowa, I stopped at Scheels in Iowa City since they always have a selection of Coopers. They had 7 Phoenix's but none in 6.5x284 or .260. They had several in .223, a couple in .17 hmr and then another one or two in .270. I did get to handle one and drool a bit over it before...

Team AJ Mini-14 Compensator

I have a stainless Team AJ Mini-14 compensator that was bought for my brother's mini-14, only to find out he already had one installed!

They sell for $65, I'll take $40 shipped.

Re: 308 as a varmint round

Sounds like a fantastic shot! A couple of the guys I shoot PD's with take their .308's along as well. It's not their primary rig but towards the end of the hunt they will pull them out and do some damage!

Re: 6.5 x 284

Rick - I forgot to mention in my last post...that is one very SWEET rig your son has put together, looks like it's a blast to shoot. Acloco - Sounds like you are going to have a couple of nice setups yourself. So here's my next question, having never put together a custom bolt gun, where do I start...

Re: 6.5 x 284

Mike - I've thought about the Cooper and it's weight paired with the caliber I'm expecting not to see many of the hits. The reason I went with a lighter rifle was for the antelope portion. One of the places some of the guys in my group shot down in Texas asked up to come back and shoot some antelop...

Re: 6.5 x 284

Acloco & Rick - Thanks for the input. From my readings it sounds like the 6.5x284 is very rough on barrels and brass is crazy expensive but you end up with high end brass so that is somewhat expected. This rifle won't be having thousands of rounds through it like my little .204 or my new AR but...

6.5 x 284

Here's a question for those more experienced. After returning from my second prairie dog trip, I have a want to take a larger, longer range rifle out west with me next year. A couple guys took out their new 6mm ackley improved rifles this year and had a blast. I have always wanted a 6.5x284 and afte...

Re: Pictures from this past weekends trip to Nebraska (graphic)

Here's a few additional pictures of the crew and some of the toys. Looks like next year I need to take a few more pictures of the equipment...this year I got too excited when I saw how many dogs we had to shoot! Bob on the lookout for dogs with his Remington 700 chambered in .223. http://i155.photob...

Re: Pictures from this past weekends trip to Nebraska (graphic)

Rick - I'll have to check to see what other pictures I have. I think I have some more of the land and maybe some equipment shots. Last year I took a lot of pictures because the shooting was slow, this year the dogs were up everywhere so I figured the rifle in my hand was better than the camera! I k...

Re: Pictures from this past weekends trip to Nebraska (graphic)

Awesome. You forgot to call me. :) I left town without checking the forum one more time and missed your message until I got back. We'll definitely have to exchange info though, we are planning on shooting the same area next year. I was in a bit of scramble mode this year to get ready, a couple days...

Re: Pictures from this past weekends trip to Nebraska (graphic)

Silverfox - I've got a box of 500 39 grainers just waiting for some once fired brass. I should have plenty of it now so I should be able to start working up a new load. I picked up a box before they went up in price last year, figured they would keep until I ran out of 32's! surfclod - I was glad t...
