Successful 2008 Illinois Deer Hunt (long story w/ pics)
My father, brother and I were lucky enough to have another successful Illinois shotgun hunt. Things started off slowly with only 3 deer seen on opening day of shotgun season. My brother had a little fork horn buck, a yearling and a nice doe show up a couple hours after sunrise on Friday. The yearlin...

Re: 2008 Whitetail 5x5
I've got the same look going on! There is only one thing this is consistent with weather here in Illinois, it's going to be windy! I fully expect it to be breezy and nasty before the season is over. However this weekend is looking pretty calm with temps in the lower 40's during the day and 20's and ...

Re: 2008 Whitetail 5x5
That's a dandy buck you've got there! My count has begun to the Illinois Firearm season, I'll be headed out Thursday night to the cabin where I'll probably get as much sleep as a 5 year old on Christmas Eve! I'll be trying my hand at taking one with a pistol again this year, last year I had the pist...

Re: 2008 Wyoming goat Pic
Congrats! That is a great looking speed goat you've got there! I am hoping to be able to try my hand at antelope hunting in the next year or two. I need to do some research on when, where, and how much it'll cost.

Re: Harrell Powder throwers?
I used my dad's old 15 dollar Lee for several years and there was nothing wrong with it, but I do LOVE the new Harrel. In fact if you don't mind spending a little time, you can set the load a tad light and trickle the charge up to the exact weight you want and if you are doing that, it doesn't matte...

Re: Harrell Powder throwers?
I was looking for a new powder measure earlier this year and spent a couple months researching and talking to people about the different types and brands available. I finally landed on a Harrel and I picked their Premium Culver Powder Measure. I realy wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the money but a...

H-322
Benchmark
I've haven't had a need to try anything else. H-322 is working very well with the 32 grain Hornaday's and I just started load development with Benchmark paired with 35 grain Bergers which is showing some promise.

Re: Smith & Wesson Model 41
A good cleaning was all she needed. I fired off 300 rounds without an issue. I also tried some different ammo (Federal Auto Match). It seemed to work very well. The next time out I'll be trying some Power Points to see how they perform.

Re: Kimber Custom Covert II
Rick,
That is one nice set of Kimbers you have there. I got to handle a CDP II about a month ago and fell in love. I'm looking at the the Custom CDP II but I'll have to start saving my pennies again now that I bought the model 41!

Re: Smith & Wesson Model 41
Dang that is a lot of rounds without cleaning! Wow that is amazing indeed. My buddy has a MKII competition which I got to shoot a few weeks ago. That got me thinking I needed a new .22 rimfire. I had a MKIII Competition in my right hand while my left was reaching for my wallet but for some rea...

Re: Smith & Wesson Model 41
I ordered the spring kit and about a 1/2 dozen different types of ammo last night from Midway and also I gave her a good cleaning. The barrel was clean but it looked like it had 30 years of power, dust and grim on just about everything else. I got her all cleaned up, oiled up and ready to go. I had ...

Re: Range Results with my LRPV
The 35 grainers arrived today so now I have those and the 39 grain sierra's sitting on my reloading bench begging to be loaded. I don't know if I'll have time to perfect a load for the postal shoot or not, I'l probably end up shooting my mixture of H322 and the 32's for this year!

Re: Smith & Wesson Model 41
I picked up the model 41 last night! About the time I was walking out of the shop, a nice big thunderstorm was rolling in. I had to wait a couple hours for the storms to move through but I finally got to go out to the range. I didn't have much time before the second batch of storms moved through so ...

Re: 6.5 Grendel
I can't argue with the performance of the Les Baer, I was looking at one myself in either the .204 or in the 6.5 Grendel but then found out about the local guy so I figured I would give him my business. His guns have won a bunch of national matches and can no doubt out shoot my ability. At some poin...
