Re: Mange w/ an exit
Well I came up to Illinois State to go to school and ended up getting a job in town. I've been up here 4-5 years now. I still get back "home" a fair amount. I still enjoy going to to Left Handers gun range there in Loami. I'll be headed down that way this weekend to meet up with my brother...

Re: .223 Bullets and Twist Rates
Thanks for the info. I placed the order for 500 pieces of brass tonight and Sierra's ballistic software. I had some gift cards from Christmas to use up so I figured I might as well get some more reloading stuff!

Re: .223 Bullets and Twist Rates
This one will mostly be shooting prairie poodles and paper with the occasional coyote. I'm leaning towards something that will shoot a little heavier bullet (something in the 50-60 grain range). Anything lighter than that, I've got covered with my .204. Berger has got some 52 and 55 grain Match Varm...

Gerber LMF II
I've got a NIB Gerber LMF II that I would like to sell, I'm in the process of putting an AR together and would like some funds to help complete the build. I picked up the knife out in Nebraska at Cabelas while out there on a prairie dog shoot this past May. It's been sitting in the box ever since! I...

.223 Bullets and Twist Rates
I'm looking at picking up my 1st .223 and I've got some questions around the bullets and the different twist rates. For those who have .223's, what is your favorite go to bullet for varmints. I'd prefer a little heavier bullet since I've got the lighter stuff covered with my beloved .204! This one w...

Ray, Yep, I love my St. Croix rods! I have a few of them in my arsonal so far with plans of adding a few more. Right now I've got casting rods but plan on adding a couple spinning rods to the collection. I am hoping to take a trip up to the boundary waters next spring...where I'll be able to give th...

Re: So far this deer season
Nice write up! I didn't get a chance to head out for today's hunt. I've got the truck loaded up now though and I'll be headed to Pike County in the next couple hours to get ready for the morning hunt. We didn't see much 1st season and heard very few shots which is unusual for Pike. We did manage to ...

Re: Tx Panhandle Buck
That is a dandy looking buck you have there Dennis. I'll be headed back out to deer camp tomorrow to hunt Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I had hoped to go tonight but things just didn't work out. I've got some meat in the freezer from 1st season but I've got two tags to fill yet!

Re: I have a question about Buck skinning knives.
My guess would be there's a difference in the steel used in your older Buck vs. the newer one which allows it to take and hold an edge better.

Re: Trip to the gun shop
You are probably right about me not getting a chance to play with it since Sara likes it so much! I've got a buddy with a Springfield and he loves it. I was looking at picking up a Kimber Custom CDP II at some point in the future but we found this little Springfield at the local shop. :chin: Maybe h...

Trip to the gun shop
Well over the holiday weekend I decided to stop in the gunshop while back visting family. The new wife found (and likes very much) a new Springfield Armory Loaded Champion 1911. Anybody shot one before? I've got a buddy with a Trophy Match Long slide that I've shot (6" slide) before and that's ...

Re: Successful 2008 Illinois Deer Hunt (long story w/ pics)
Mike Here in Illinois you can take 2 antlered deer during a year, including the archery, muzzleloader and firearm seasons. I ended up with 3 tags this year and my brother and father each had 2. I've still got a doe tag and then an either sex tag so I'll definitely take at least one more doe if I ha...
