I'm thinking the 204 may be too limited.
Well, I've decided to change my 204R to a 223R. I have a new Criterion Savage prefit bull contour ordered for the LRPV. Reason being is that this rifle will only shoot 32 g bullets well. Actually it shoots the 32's exceptionally well, but I need to also be able to shoot the heavier 40's too. So, ent...

Re: 39 blitzking
Well, I've decided to give them one more try with H4895. Hopefully, it won't be money wasted as for as small as these things are they sure are pricey compared to the Hornady Vmax's. I think it might be the only powder I've yet to try with them. The thing that is baffling me about these 39's is regar...

Re: 39 blitzking
Well today I loaded the erst of my 39g SBK's. Used CRE223 in 3 g increments from bottom to top. Did the same with R10x. STILL nothing under 1/2" I think I'm giving up on these in this rifle. It's a tack driver with 32's, but nowhere near as accurate with 39 or 40's.

Re: 39 blitzking
What was your sweet spot with the R10x? Are you also seating to the book length of 2.260" No, not loading to book length. Loading for a custom match chamber with comparator OAL of 2.006"; just kissing the lands. You cannot reach the lands with any factory 204 barrel, so no sense trying. I...

Re: 39 blitzking
Haven't checked actual twist rate . Just going by what Savage says. This rifle will shoot 32 Vmax's into tiny tiny little holes @ 100 yds, but regardless of powder, seating depths it struggles to get under 1/2" for 5 shots. It is the same with the 40 V max. If it was actually a bit slower than ...

Re: The one shot zero
Actually, at a long distance like 100Meters, the smaller bore size makes it even easier for me since the dot fills the bore. I routinely swap my Vortex PST between the 308 and this 204R ( can't afford 2 scopes) and I have no problems doing it. Of course, I never assumed anyone would think You would ...

The one shot zero
For those getting a new optic who are needlessly wasting money on bore sight tools and ammo try this. I can't count the times I have watched people waste an entire box of shells trying to get on paper and this is after using a bore sight tool. @ 100 yds place a large 3-4" orange dot on a piece ...

Re: 39 blitzking
Today I tried some of the 39 gn Bltitzkings. I can't say they did real bad, but nowhere as well as the 32 gn Vmax's have done in the past. Best I got was 1/2" @100M. I used IMR 4166 and started at the bottom and went up in .5 gn increments till max. Seems as the faster I pushed them the larger ...
