Anybody looking for a good buy on a 204?
Benchrest Central has a Savage Model 12 lrpv with bushnell elite scope on it for $950.00 or offer. I don't have the funds right now or I would own it. If anyone is looking this looks like a good deal.

Re: 2008 Postal Shoot
Skipper, I dropped him an e-mail on his coated bullets web page. Hopefully he will respond. Man, I hate wondering where he is. I hope all is well with Kevin and his family.

Re: Postal Shoot Prep
Hey JO191145,
I checked my 35 grain loads with what you said and they drop right in after shooting. My other gun shoots 39gr yet and you are right, the bullet will not go in after firing. What causes this.

Re: Postal Shoot Prep
I was running the 39's at about 3750. I noticed last year that it was starting to loose accuracy at the comp shoots that I do. Wrote it off that it was me. This year I shot terrible at the first 2 shoots that we had. Checked my scope, changed my shooting style, nothing worked. Changed to 35 gr berge...

Re: New 204 go factory or custom
Where are you from in Iowa. I know 2 smiths that could do it for you. Maybe even 3. One is located in Pella, Ia. One in Bussey, Ia and the other is in Manning, Ia. I know the one in Manning works alot on Savage so I don't know if he works on remington. Let me know if I can help.

Re: Postal Shoot Prep
Skipper, Now that you mention it, Kevin hasn't been out here much lately. I hope all is well. When the forum was down for a while I contacted him through his coated bullets web page and order my targets through it. I wish that I could get Benchmark to shoot in my gun. It's alot easier to find in my ...

Re: Reloading kits
I agree with skipper on this one. RCBS kits are very high quality and will last a life time. When buying dies though I would highly recommend Redding. They're not much more money but definately worth the extra cost. HTH.

Re: 39 Sierra Factory load
Good luck on that venture. Bullet mfg's don't give that info. Not that I know of anyway. If you can figure out the velocity it's shooting it may take a while but you can start researching the different ball powders and find one that is close to what you have found so far.

Re: Developing long range loads.
I agree with lee on this. I shoot competition at 200 yds so when I load develop I test at 200 yds. Don't know if its right but that's the way I do it. By the way, that is one heck of a group your son shot. I got one of my boy's started this year at bench shooting. He'll be outshooting me in no time....

Are them all rabbits that I see in the first picture? It sounds like it would be alot of fun.
Sure is some nice scenery in your area of the world also.
