Re: 2019 Five-N-Dime Competition News

ok - I finally got the target - now that the winter rains have started - we need the rain anyway so will find a break sometime to have a go

plenty of lambs hitting the ground so the fox population will also be suffering over the next few weeks

Re: 2019 Five-N-Dime Competition News

Still no target arrived down in Aus - someone must have shot the carrier pigeon - hope I get it in time to perforate it and get it back! Today is a perfect autumn day - 23 Celsius and absolutely no wind - have been out on the tractor spraying weeds prior to seeding some pasture.

Cheers

Re: 2019 Five-N-Dime Competition News

Hi Bill - looking forward to having a go and being the only participant from downunder - hope I do ok - my rifle is a fairly new SAKO 85 VLS with a zeiss scope - used a lot for foxes and roo culling (under permit) - using handloaded 39 gn bk's on top of 26.8 gn 2206H (similar to 4895) with rem 7.5 p...

Re: lets talk powder.....

I'm using 2206H with 39 bk's and Rem 7.5 in Nosler and Hornady cases - ADI 2206H is an Australian manufactured powder equivalent to 4895 - still trying different loads but have a good sweet spot at present with 26.8 gn

Re: Tell us about yourself...

Hi to all - have been on this site since August last year when I was doing some research into getting a 204 . I am 56 and live in rural South Australia where I part time farm with sheep and cattle. Have been a shooter/hunter ever since childhood and grew up in rural areas with relatives on farms so ...

Re: 204 rifle recommendations

Hi edelsite - I hung on till I could afford a SAKO 85 VLS - well worth the wait as this is a tack driver with 39 gn SBK handloads - also seriously consider getting a good scope to suit this cal as you can only shoot what you can see well - I saved again and put a zeiss 2-12X50 V6 with illum reticle ...

Re: Building a rifle

HI Shooter J - the sako you have a photo of above is nice - just bought one recently in 204 and it shoots like a dream - haven't got a nice scope on it yet but it is currently wearing an old Leupold 12x40 AO and shooting nice tight groups with sierra BK 39 gn handloads (26.8 AR 2206H, Rem7.5, hornad...

Re: Need primer help please!

have just started using 7.5's in my 204 loads after having used win primers for .223 previously . yesterday I had my first ever primer failure (in 40 odd years of reloading) - squeezed the trigger on the sako and click! - that lucky roo gets to live another day - the previous 5 were all good and a l...

setting up a new rifle

Hi to all forum members - first post from me down in South Australia - Finally got round to buying a new SAKO varmint (stainless /laminate) .204 and having fun setting it up for primarily fox shooting (I run sheep on the farm and lambs are worth gold nowadays). Also do a fair bit of roo culling unde...
