Re: Vortex Military/Veteran Discount
Just received an email from Vortex.. It seems as though I screwed up in my profile and didn't have my location checked and they cannot ship out of the country.. Now after I id'd my country, their inventory is listed. If you are US military or an honorably discharged veteran or law enforcement person...

Vortex Military/Veteran Discount
Has anyone here used this? They say they give 40% off MSRP and direct you to another website .I went on their website and signed up through Experticity and after all that hassle found no Vortex products.

Re: Ruger 10/22 Target Model
I think other than the crappy factory trigger these rifles' weak point is the stock bedding. They are too loose in the rear and tend to pivot around the single screw throwing flyers. If you get one it won't shoot consistently until you bed the action. Kidd has the answer with the rear tang. If Ruger...

Re: Is the 204 Ruger right for me...?
Given you live in Commie CA and there's a ban on lead bullets, not a varmint hunter and the fact that there is a relatively limited selection of .204 bullets to begin with I'd say no. I'd say you're probably better off with a .223Rem. Mainly since you're limited to lead free bullets and for pigs the...

Re: lets talk powder.....
Today my Savage LRPV shot a .140" group center to center @ 100M using 32 VMax in Hornady cases, COL 2.245", WSR primer, and 27.4 gn H4895. I have tried all the featured powders, but so far nothing I have tried can beat the H4895. I want to try the Reloader 10X, but cannot find it .

Re: Dogtown bullet seating depth
This rifle is a true beast. 26" barrel measures a full 1" at the crown with a tiny .20 cal hole in the center. That's a lot of steel and way too heavy as a hunting rig. I only shoot it at the bench and a few days ago found a load using 32gn V Max COL 2.245"and H4895 that groups 3 rds ...

Re: Dogtown bullet seating depth
Not trying to get to the lands. Just noting that when I have the full caliber of the bullet in the case it is jumping about .080" to get to the lands. I don't have any other rifles that will shoot 'great groups' jumping that far. This is a new rig and caliber for me and I'm in the process of wo...

Re: lets talk powder.....
Given the tiny bore and potential for very high pressures, should a slower powder be a better selection than the faster burn rates? I'm fairly new to this caliber is why I ask.

Re: Powder data needed
What was your C.O.L. for that load? I have a M12 LRPV that has put two literally into the same hole quite a few times, but I always pulled the third ruining the perfect 3 rd group.

Re: Older Ruger 77 Accuracy?
I have a tang safety M77 in .270Win. Shoots right at 1/2 to 3/4 at 100yds. My problem is the foe rend warped and I can't find a new stock for it. I guess they quit making them. What once shot nice little triangles now strings horizontally.

Re: Dies and brass
I have RCBS, Lee and Hornady dies. My 204 dies are RCBS, but not for any special reason. Personally, I like the Hornady Custom dies because they have the floating sleeve that helps keep the bullet concentric while seating, whereas my RCBS I have to be real careful to hold that tiny bullet straight a...

Re: Dogtown bullet seating depth
Thanks for the info. Given the fact that most .204 bullets are so short, any ideas why the throats are cut so long? Is this a safety thing to keep pressures manageable since the main goal in producing this caliber was speed and therefor hot loads to get it? I too think my 40 vmaxes might be riding t...

Dogtown bullet seating depth
Hello, I just got a new older Savage M12 LRPV I'm trying to work up a load for. This is my first experience with a 204R so I'm on a learning curve. I currently am using the Midway USA Dogtown 34gn bullets. Using the Hornady modified case with this bullet on the lands only leaves about .050" of ...
