Re: Have you noticed this too?

In my case its a big YES to all 4 of your ??? 1. every chance I can work on postal shoot loads I take it. 2. Can't let the kids go hungry because daddy's buying bullits. 3. I think I have worn out a at least 1 .204 cleaning rod. 4. I only get out once a week and wind or range rookies can spoil a tes...

Re: Muzzle brake

I took the swift out to the range today to try it out, and I've got to say that it had less felt recoil than my .204 Ruger. 8) I was out practicing for the postal shoot so I was able to shoot the .204 just after shooitng the swift. The trigger is still a little heavy (about 2 lbs) but consistent, so...

I just got my .220 swift so I haven't had much of a chance to test it yet. In fact I just got it back from a 'smith who put a Hollands muzzle brake on it and also tweeked the trigger. I'm going out to the range this friday to work on my postal shoot loads and will be giving that swift a good shake-o...

I'll be trying the 35gr bergers but I'll also be looking at some of my target loads with the 39gr SBK. I am also trying some 40gr bergers. I think for me it will be technique(both loading and shooting) that will determine my group size.

When nature wins

I went up north in hopes of spending some quality time with praire poodles 2 fridays ago. It was me, my daughter and Dean. Dean is my 22-250 shooting buddy and since it had been raining we took his 4x4. Well we get there and as usual it takes me twice as long to set up as Dean because I am setting u...

I have a guy here that is installing a Hollnd's muzzle brake and he said he could adjust the trigger for me, so I'll wait and see if I like it.But all that has to wait 'til after quelling an uprising on the praire this weekend. ;)

BunG , I have the Chrony Beta Master and it does a great job... as long as I don't have someone shooting short barreled high vel guns right next to me. Also I have heard that the customer service at Chrony is great, 1 guy sent in his chrony for repair after putting a round through it and all he pai...

Robert , This was the 1st time I have used RL-15. I had NO signs of pressure and the ESs were decent. I am going to load up 100 with my 2nd to last load test (37gr RL-15, 55gr Nos BT, av. vel. 3760fps). This load matches my 204's ballistics (39gr Sierra BK, 25.1gr RL-10x, 3850fps) so I'll be able u...

Thanks for the tip

On my new (new to me) .220 Swift, Rem 700 VSSF 2002 model. I took a tip from Rick from Oregan and tried some 55gr Nosler BTs over RL-15. They showed some great promise for my 1st time out. I think I'm going to love this rifle but first I'll need to get a better trigger and a muzzle brake. The flier ...

Over pressure

I decided on a Remington mod 700 VSSF in cal 220 Swift to use as a cool down/long distance splat factor gun to take along with my .204 Ruger. I chose H380 under some 55 gr Vmax pills and started my load work up. I live in Arizona(= hot in summer) so I always put my loaded ammo in a cooler with some ...

I think that I made it clear to him just how nuts I was when I told him that I had just purchased a 220 Swift. I wanted something with more pop out at longer distances and I always wanted one since was a kid. So far I have learned that it makes a great way to get rid of large quantities of gun powde...

Nuts about the .204

I went to sportsmans warehouse(AKA $100 store) today for some powder and bullets. As usual I found myself in the firearms dept. looking and maybe drooling over all the nice pieces they had there. Well my buddy and I start jawin' with the counter person about this and that and as usual the conversati...

jo191145 , My accuracy is at least as good with full length sizing as with just neck sizing. I average .5" 5 shot groups which IOH opinion is pretty darn good. I would love to average .25" but I wonder if that is realistic for my rifle/abilities. Ryan S Albright I am using Rem and Norma b...
