Re: Thinkin its boyds stock time
I'm typically not much of a wood stock fan but I just put a Boyd's on my CZ 527 Varmint 204 and it was in their coyote laminate. Turned out pretty well and for only spending $150 there was nothing else out there even close.

Re: Big bullet drop
Often, many scopes don't track like they should. If you diealed up for shooting at 200 yards, I'd say it is either the scope isn't tracking like it's supposed to or you possibly dialed incorrectly. It would take a significant velocity error to have that much drop going from 100 to 200 yards so I don...

Re: Which Die set to get?
This is like the Chevy vs. Ford discussion, but I much prefer Redding Competition bushing dies for all my accuracy handloading. Their comp seater is the best I've ever used (and I've got about all brands around somewhere), and gives the absolute lowest TIR outside of using an arbor press and BR die...

Re: Would you buy Savage B mag 17wsm???
I bought a HB SS Bmag a couple years ago. Mine was the HB SS model that came with the POS plastic stock. I immediately replaced the plastic POS stock with a Boyd's Pro Varmint stock and had it bed. Bedding the action on a Bmag, because of their design, is a real pain in the arse. You'll see lots of ...

Re: New 204 Owner looking at optics
I put a Burris Veracity 4-20x50 on my 527 Varmint 204. I have no complaints with it so far and would use one again.

Re: .20 Caliber Fun in the Rat Patch
As much as I hate to admit it, you can't really shoot them into extinction in those hay fields but that new poison they're using now will flat wipe them out. Like I said, I hate to admit it but I can see why these guys are going the poison route and I suppose I'd likely do the same thing if I was th...

And the way that poison kills the little buggers is almost in humane. Trick them into eating that poison laced cabbage then the gas build up starts until their little tummies bust open, shameful. lol A bullet to the head is much swifter and humane I think.

Re: Factory Hornady 204 ammo velocity
I've never seen any gun or chambering lose/gain 50 fps per inch but anything is possible.
In some extreme over bore cartridges you could possible see loses like that but the 204 Ruger is far from being an extreme overbore cartridge.

Re: new here with question about 8208 xbr powder
If you can't seem to get your gun to shoot as well as you think it should and it has a 1-12 twist barrel like many of the factory 204's do try using the 32 grain bullets or the 35gr Bergers. Those 39's and 40's are marginal at best in a 1-12tw barrel. If you have a 1-11tw or faster, disregard.

Re: How many times neck sizing before f/l?
I have 3 firings out of new norma brass. My bolt is starting to close a little snug now, do you guys f/l or bump shoulders back at this point? or take them another firing or two until the bolt really starts closing hard? thanks in advance If you are noticing resistance on the bolt that wasn't there...

Re: Factory Hornady 204 ammo velocity
Another thing to consider and put into this equation is that not only do companies use pressure barrels, but they also use 26 inch barrels. Just about all of ours run around 21 - 24 inches. , and that will also drop the FPS, from factory readings. Bill K All true but a 21-24in. tube isn't going to ...
