How many rounds to burn out a .204 bbl?

Hey Guys, I've been looking at Gun Broker at .204 bolt rifles. Seems there quite a few used rifles available. I am wondering if this is because the barrels are quickly shot out. Waddaya say?

Re: Stuck bolt in AR15

Ok so here's a thought...maybe crazy. So Randy has a new set of small base dies. Remove the deprimer/neck sizer rod. Lube the reloads and then resize. As long as the bullet clears the upper part of the resize die, should be ok? Then no need to pull bullets. Just a thought.

Re: Stuck bolt in AR15

I experienced the same issue with 223 hand loads not going fully into battery but it was fixed with the RCBS small base die. When I was setting up to load 204, stayed w the small base version and have not had any issues (other than having to go with a heavier buffer to optimize feeding). This year wi...

Hi Jim,
Just curious if you have tried other ammo in the 17hmr AR?

Re: Tell us about yourself...

Hey Guys, Have visited your site regularly since last year when I was setting up a budget 204 AR project. I joined the forum a few weeks ago (just prepped a pile of cases and ready to start loading!). I am a long time shooter and reloader (handguns and rifles) but relatively new to 204. My 204 AR ri...

Re: CZ is in the house!

I have a CZ 455 chambered in 17hmr that also has awesome furniture (curved European style stock). It's a great shooter and has claimed many ground squirrels on the sheep ranch property where we hunt.

Re: Bullets: Boat tail vs. Flat base???

Hey Guys, I am new to this forum. A lot of great information here!! So this question about flat base vs boat tail is quite interesting and I have a related question. Last year, I started loading 204 ruger with flat base sierras and hornady 32grainers. I am using RCBS dies (two die set) and when I se...

Re: What parts are you running?

I purchased a 204 upper from the folks at Model 1 which uses E.R Shaw heavy bbl. SunDevil lower w Timney 3lb trigger , mil spec carrier.spring, Spikes T-2 buffer and a Vortex crossfire scope. .3MOA accuracy at 100 yards was my best group w hornady 32gr factory loads. Had fun exploding ground squirre...

Re: First outing, 204 Ruger AR

magul magazines will not work. Standard steel mags work fine in my experience. The "destroyed case" might not be due to the mag tho. I was having a feed problem that was causing big dents on the cases. Switched to a Spikes T2 buffer (heavier) to slow down the bolt and the feed issue is fix...
