Re: Overpressure signs

Thanks Bill and Rick. I'm also doing some loads for the 20VT and am relying on powder charges that others have used. I know the general rule of starting low and building up but with some of my powders I'm not sure how far to go with them. I've used RL7, Accurate 2200 and IMR 4198. So far haven't exc...

Overpressure signs

Does anyone have photos of what a primer or case looks like when you're approaching max loads? I've been staying within the printed SAAMI load range but I often hear folks loading till they see signs of overpressure. What does that look like? Thanks, Randy.

Re: Grizzly with a .204

My favorite way for deer here on the west coast is get out and wander the old, overgrown logging roads and skids. I've done a lot of walking, a little bit of stalking and not much shooting but it's still my favorite method. After living and hunting Alaska for 11 years in the mid eighties and ninetie...

Re: 2019 5 Shot Challenge Preparation Topics

I made my own 1/4" red dots using a paper hole punch and the unshot up areas of old peel and stick targets. I had to put clear tape over them because they would fall off if you hit them. I could still see the little dots at 100 yards. I know I mentioned this in an earlier post but it works real...

Re: 2019 5 Shot Challenge Preparation Topics

I like it. Last year I taped 10 targets to my shooting board and hauled it out to a hundred yards. I tried several things from shooting 5 then taking a cooling break to shooting 10 then cleaning and finally shooting a rotation of one shot into each target until I had 5 holes in 5 targets. I even use...

Re: Teal Season Opener 2018

Sounds like it was a great day in the blind. I wasn't able to make my annual trip to N. Dakota this year for waterfowl season and a day or so of pheasants. Maybe next year. Thanks for the photos to let me know what I'm missing out on :D. Randy.

Re: Sent VX-L To Leopold

Maybe a bit off topic but I just got back from Plumas County chasing the elusive blacktail buck. Scouted 2 days, hunted 2 days and only saw a handfull of does. There was way more bear and lion sign than deer sign. Probably why we didn't see that many deer. Thanks for the good info on the scope. Randy.

Re: 2018 Going Postal 5 Shot Challenge Winners!!!

Congratulations to the top 3 shooters! Those are some really great scores. I believe anyone submitting a target wouldn't mind see where they placed in the competition and having the results made public. I shot better last year but submitted this year's target anyway. I can't think of a way to increa...

Re: 2018 Going Postal 5 Shot Challenge

I got out to the range early this morning and shot 20 targets with 5 shots each. Sure wish this was a 4 shot challenge! Anyway, sending in the best one. If they were live rats I killed 99 of 100. I won't be taking home any honors with this target but it's fun as usual. Thanks Skipper for doing this ...

Re: ND PD Hunt 7-20-2018

As usual, a great narrative of the hunt and some awesome photos as well. Did I mention that's a great looking rifle! Those of us here in Ca. can only dream and salivate. I have a really good friend from my old days in the Air Force that lives in Minot and wondering how far away is that? Randy.,
