Re: ? On accuracy?

I was doing some bench shooting with my Tikka .204 a few weeks ago and was doing fine for about 25-30 rounds. Could only shoot 5 or 6 before letting the barrel cool down a bit but all in all things were fine and groups were tight. Then it just started going all over the paper, granted a little breez...

Re: Savage FV M12 & Berger HP's

Bummer! I just bought a box of the same bullets but haven't loaded them up yet. Hope they work in my Tikka.

Starting my 1st AR build

I just bought an Anderson receiver and am waiting the 10 days background check before I bring it home. In the mean time, I'm doing some research on how to build one of these things and am hoping someone out there can give me some advice on where to go for a good/reliable source of information. Not s...

Re: Video fun from 2016

The ranch we have permission to shoot on told us they poisoned with cabbage last year. I'd have to agree with your kill/success rate based on the number of squirrels I saw on 5 trips out there. I was told that one squirrel eats the equivalent of a bale of hay in it's lifetime which based on the numb...

Re: Video fun from 2016

I haven't heard anything about outlawing the poisoning but hope it's true. Squirrels were almost not-existent in my favorite hay fields last year.

Re: bolt face to Lands Savage M12fv

My favorite ranch to shoot squirrels also poisoned this year with cabbage. It did a pretty good job on the rats but didn't get them all so we still had some good shooting. They could only put out bait till a certain date and after that it wasn't bad shooting. Not like the years in the past but still...

Re: Bullet seating depth

That's probably what I'll go with. If I seat the bullet .200 into the case I'll be .261 from the ogive to the lands but not much I can do about it. Thanks for your help. Randy.

Re: bolt face to Lands Savage M12fv

If you're talking about the bushing for the .204, it's marked 14-20. I think I got the last one at Sportsman's last weekend. If you want to borrow it let me know. Randy.

Re: bolt face to Lands Savage M12fv

I just got done measuring my Tikka T3 Hunter .204 and had pretty close to the same results. I used the Hornaday Straight OAL guage and bullet comparator. This is what I came up with; 1. Chamber to lands-2.1530 2. OAL case length-1.840 3. Bullet (Berger 35 gr. varminter) ogive to base-.288 4. Subtrac...

Bullet seating depth

I bought my first .204 this year with the intention of having something to shoot Oregon ground squirrels at distances greater than my .17HMR. I also wanted to get back into reloading as it's been about 20 years since I last pulled the handle on my Rock Chucker. I've been reading a lot about how bull...

Re: Primer choices

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll take it and search a bit harder for the better primers suggested here.

Primer choices

It's been years since I've reloaded but use to do a lot. Unfortunately, the brain didn't retain a lot of my experience so please bear with me on what may seem to be simple questions. I see a lot good remarks about the Remington 7-1/2 primers but I'm having trouble getting my hands on some without or...

There's an error in my previous post-I don't have Hornadey bullets they're Nosler's 32 gr. Varmageddon and 32 gr. Ballistic tip.

Re: Favorite Loads

I haven't reloaded any of my 204's yet but bought some Varget powder and have the Hornadey 32 grain bullets to use with the Remington 7-1/2 primers. Can't wait to see how they shoot.

Re: Favorite Loads

I drive by a few times a year to use the boat ramp there. It's hard sometimes to see your hits without a spotter with the .204. I shot a couple last weekend out towards Pasquenta-one I didn't even know I hit it till my partner said so, the other I saw flopping on the ground and knew it was a head sh...
