Re: Ghost guns
I also read on the ATF web site that you can take your ghost gun to a gunsmith but you can't leave it. The gunsmith would then be in possession of a firearm without a serial number. I'd like to build one but want to go in with a couple other guys on the jig to share the cost. I'm in Northern Califor...

I'm interested if you've still got the brass. Randy. See your PM for details

Re: 22/250 dies
This is just a guess and I know you said you cleaned and lubed the die but maybe there's some corrosion or machining defects built up inside it. If your brass sizes ok in other dies then I suspect you've got a bad one. You could try contacting Lyman and see if they have any ideas. Randy.

Re: Ghost guns
I've been looking at these quite a bit and have talked with several folks who have done their own 80% lower and all said was easy with the jig. The key here is that it is for yourself. I checked out one web site and their 80% lowers which are shipped to your house and not an FFL dealer only need the...

22 Nosler for an AR
I've been doing some reading about the 22 Nosler and might consider it for my next build. Anyone out there have any first hand experience with this? Also considering the .221. Thanks, Randy.

Re: Stuck bolt in AR15
I know in theory what you're saying about gutting the resizing die and running the loaded bullets thru the small base die sounds doable. But, I don't have the big hairy one's to try it myself. Something just seems wrong about running a primed, powdered case with a bullet in it through the die. By du...

Re: Stuck bolt in AR15
Just a quick follow up on the stuck bolt problem-I left the factory reloads at home (I have 500 rounds) and just took some factory new from 3 different manufactures including the cheap steel case stuff. I shot 60 rounds without a single problem. I bought a small base sizer die from RCBS and will try...

Re: Muzzle velocity from Tikka T3X varmint 23.5"
I have a T3 Hunter in .204 and will measure the barrel length tonight. I just got my son a chronograph for his birthday and hope to try it out this weekend. I'll report back as soon as I shoot as I'm wondering what the MV's will be also. I have some 32 gr. Hornaday factory ammo to compare with some ...

Re: Stuck bolt in AR15
An update on bolt/ammo situation I've been going through. I got the case gage and started going through all 500 rounds of the reloaded ammo I bought on line. 10 out of the first 55 failed the gage. The case rim sat slightly above the gage and on some the primer wasn't seated deep enough and protrude...

Re: Stuck bolt in AR15
We're at Stones. I usually turn off at grasshopper flats and head East towards the highway. Sometimes end up at Alturas ranch but they poisoned with cabbage last year and did a good job of getting rid of the squirrels.

Re: Stuck bolt in AR15
I did some research on small base dies and see what I'm pretty sure is my problem. If the bolt doesn't fully close, the firing pin isn't able to hit the primer. That's what had been happening and with the case stuck due to being slightly to large, I'm not able to extract with the charging handle. I'...

Re: Stuck bolt in AR15
Thanks for the replies. You're right MZ5, I was using re-man ammo so I could accumulate some brass to reload my own. I now realize in hindsight it was not very smart to try putting a fired brass from someone else's gun to troubleshoot. I was pretty sure my problem was a bolt/trigger/firing pin probl...

Re: Anyone using Norma powder in their 204?
I just got home from work and checked my Berger book and 201 is all that's listed for all bullet weights. All my other reloading manuals are pre-204. If you get a chance, check out my question in the AR section of these forums and let me know if you or anyone you know may have an input. Thanks, Randy.

Re: Anyone using Norma powder in their 204?
Just so you don't feel like there's no love here, I checked the Norma website and you're right-no load data for anything smaller than 22 cal. Perhaps an email or phone call to their support staff will get an answer. R!

Stuck bolt in AR15
I recently completed building my first AR using an Anderson lower that I assembled with a Geissele 2 stage trigger. I bought a complete Anderson upper with an 18" barrel and hooked that up to my upper with a featureless stock to avoid having to register it here in Ca. as an evil assault rifle. ...
