Re: Scpoe Mounts for Anschutz 1517 Heavy Barrel?

RIO; I tried 2 different sets of medium and one set of high rings and did not get the clearance (actually no clearance  ) and read where people had success with the Talley high rings on the 64MPR, so to end my frustration, I went that route. I have more clearance than I wanted/needed but I can ...

Re: Scpoe Mounts for Anschutz 1517 Heavy Barrel?

I put some Talley "high" rings on my 64MPR to get the clearance I needed for a Sightron 36x scope. I use this rig in ARA matches. Allows me to shoot free recoil on a rest & rear bag. Different uses, but I need the high rings for scope clearance.

Re: Morning Walkabout with my 20VT

I grew up not far from Rogersville, still have family in the "Tri-Cities" area in upper E TN. Yeah we have GH's & yotes around here, but it's hard to find land owners that will give you permission to hunt their property. I have gotten permission from a couple of owners but their proper...

Re: Morning Walkabout with my 20VT

Cool pictures. I live near Knoxville TN. I was out in MT in the mid 90's for a PD trip, enjoyed it alot, have always wanted to go back and do it again but life got in the way (work/family/yada yada), but retired now so I trying to get my act together and make another trip out "thata way" f...

Re: Morning Walkabout with my 20VT

When I said "out your way:  , I meant in the MT/SD/ND areas for PD's. I could probably deal with chucks and squirrels if I ever make it out to the far west. A few days of popping poodles and then go further west to stalk some chucks. Sounds like a good road trip to me. Thanks for the pictu...

Re: Morning Walkabout with my 20VT

Good read. Did Ruby "fetch 'em for you ?? :) Thanks. No, Ruby is truck-bound when dad is out and about with his rifle. Chucks are pretty savvy, and if they see you, even at 100 yards, most will dive for cover. You may get a head and eyeball peeking over a rock, but best to keep low and slow, a...

Re: Rifle advice!

Unless you are a young whipper snapper, the 12FV is not a gun to tote around in the fields, from a bench or semi stationary spot, it's worthy of consideration. The 26" bull barrel is heavy, the gun is barrel heavy, the plastic stock is light, the trigger is good IMO. If you want a field gun to ...

Re: Barrel Twist Rate for 204

With the 9t, you might/could use the 45g bullets. Most 204's are 12t, and shoot the 30-39's good depending on the gun since every gun is different.

I would take it to the range with all the different weights I could find, and see what it likes. GL
