Re: Opinion on first .204.
Just make sure whatever brand you get it has a heavy/bull barrel on it unless you want issues associated with skinny barrels. IF it's gonna be a carry gun out in the field, I've read good things about the RAR Predator models but no 1st hand experience. If it's a gun for the bench, I've got a Cabelas...

Re: 204 build complete
Congrats.
I've got a x caliber barrel in 20P on a R783 action, shoots in the .2 -.4 range with 32gr tipped and RL7 if I do my part.

Re: bullets tumble?
You could try a different brand of 32g bullets, or go up to the 34g dogtown HP's, they shoot well in my Savage FV12 204R.

Re: carbon ring
Carbon ring forms just past the neck of the brass case at the start of the barrel/end of chamber, and is caused by the burning of gunpowder when a cartridge is fired. I've shot PD's in 20-25mph winds out in SD, those gusts of wind are pretty tuff to call, but it's still fun burnin...

Congrats on getting out and finding some. I have read that the plague is going around again out there in pdog land and reducing numerous towns to ghost towns.
