Re: Another small caliber bullet supplier
Gube; Thanks a lot. I did not know about Wildcat Bullets until you posted it here. And he is only in Wetaskawin, about a 45 minute drive. I sent him an email and hopefully he will have a box or two of those 38 grainers on hand. I will have to talk to him to see what the difference in performance bon...

Re: Another small caliber bullet supplier
Gube; Where does he list the 20 calibre bullets? All that came up on the site you listed were 22 calibre and larger.

Re: Called in a GREAT BIG black one this afternoon
Silverfox; That is a very nicely coloured coyote. You should get a good price for it. I just sold 5 at the NAFA auction and got an average of 45 dollars for them and none of them were as light as yours. I noticed from your pictures that you have the same rifle as I do with a bipod on it (mine is the...

Case Trimmers
I seem to recall a thread about favourite case trimmers a while back. I have looked through old threads for several days but can't find it. Anyone remember where it is or have any recommendations about which trimmer you prefer? As I remember, the Wilson was one of the best. I have to buy a new one. ...

Re: Gunnison p-dogs are hibernating
We don't have any prairie dogs around here but the Richardson's ground squirrels usually pack it in for the winter around the end of August. A few hardy ones may persist after that but shooting opportunities really dry up as they don't remain long above ground. It makes for a long drought before the...

Re: Broke in the new Ruger Hawkeye .204
That is a nice brace of coyotes , especially those light coloured ones. I think that they should bring more than 35 bucks at a fur auction.

Re: Upgrading my dies
Gube; Where are you planning on ordering your Redding seating die from. I am interested in the same one. Midway won't take our money or credit cards and I doubt that Cabelas will ship reloading equipment to Canada. If you find a vendor let me know.

Re: Still Too Much Bullet.
As a post script to this thread, I had another shot at a fox about a week ago. Taking the sage advice of some of our 204 brethren from across the pond who hunt a lot of foxes, I loaded up some 32 grain Sierra Blitzkings (over Reloader 10X powder). The fox was feeding on some deer bones about 140 yar...

Right you are. Entrance hole only, no exit. Result is a nearly perfect cat pelt for your mantle, if you are so inclined .

Re: Is the 32 gr. v-max enough for coyotes?
I agree with Ryan. Try to get a broadside shot and put the bullet directly into the heart/lung area. I would go with the heavier bullet if it shoots well in your rifle. I had a coyote quartering away from me the other day and tried to drive a 35 grain Berger bullet from behind the rib cage up into t...

Re: Still Too Much Bullet.
I wish they would too, not so much for foxes but for coyotes. Lost another one yesterday with a 35 grain Berger although the fault was more with bullet placement than design. There just does not seem to be sufficient penetration for anything but a broadside shot through the ribs. It is too bad you g...
Re: 17Hummer
Great advice from hummer aficianados. I glass bedded the receiver and under the chamber of my CZ 17HMR and free floated the rest of the barrel. The 20 grain bullet group shrunk by 2/3. I tried some Hornady 17 grain bullets as well and that load looks very promising. It was a little breezy today but ...

Re: Still Too Much Bullet.
Thanks to the guys across the pond. That is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. It sure is great to come to this site and benefit from the experience of other shooters from all over the world. That saves me no end of ammo and :wall: , and more importantly, needlessly wounding an animal.

Re: Still Too Much Bullet.
A reduced load might work although I have never heard of one for the 204. I worked up a reduced load for my 22-250 with Blue Dot powder that showed a lot of promise for fox but it was just not practical. I would have had to have one gun dedicated to that reduced load because point of impact changed ...
