Blkdog; Do you place the leather washer around the forend bolt or just lay it on the stock ahead of the bolt. I have tried a rubber washer cut out of an inner tube around the bolt but because the forend bolt comes in at an angle the washer would bunch up on the rear side of the bolt and not sit flat...

Gunmedic; I have the same gun you do. In fact it came out of a gun shop in BC so maybe they were litter mates. I am having the same problems that you are as well. I must have in excess of 200 rounds through this gun and it still won't shoot properly. I have tried at least 5 different powders (IMR 48...

I have a Leupold 4.5-14X scope and a Nikon Monarch 6.5-20X scope, both with illumniated reticles. The Leupold is a far superior product. The Nikon's system seems to employ a small LED light that shines on the crosshair. This creates a major glare around the edges of the scope tube which is annoying....

Thanks for the info Don. That is encouraging news about the non-exit of the 39 and 40 grain bullets on coyotes. That is why I switched to the 204 from a 22-250. I got tired of stitching big exit holes up and then getting docked by the fur buyer. I have only shot one coyote with the 204. I was using ...

Don; Those are a couple of nicely coloured coyotes. And it looks like the fox population is pretty healthy in your neck of the woods. Fox are just starting to make a comeback here after being nearly decimated by high coyote populations in the 70' snd 80's. They seem to survive now near farmhouses an...

I start shooting coyotes in late October although the fur is not prime then, particularly if we have had a warm autumn. The guard hair is usually not fully grown out and that doesn't happen until late November or early December. Coyotes can be taken until the end of February but by then breeding sea...

Ray; I have weighed every coyote I have shot since December 1999. Of 123 animals, the heaviest was a male which weighed 46 pounds. The vast majority are between 30 and 35 pounds, both male and female. At this time of year, juveniles (born last spring) should be about 26 to 32 pounds and adults a bit...

WP: Most of the large suppliers won't ship reloading components to Canada any more. Something to do with Homeland Security. I guess a lot of planes must be getting hijacked with 204 Rugers. Strangely enough, bullets and brass still get through from Ebay sellers. Our moronic gun laws up here have put...

I got my first coyote with the 204 Ruger yesterday. It was standing broadside at 140 yards and I hit it on the midline, four inches behind the right shoulder with a 35 grain Berger hollow point. The bullet passed completely through the rib cage, both lungs and took a big bite out of the back of the ...
