If it's a hunting lease, why would the state tell you to kill as many as you want?

If you haven't missed or lost a deer with the .204, and can say the same for the .243, why are you using the .204? In all honesty if you're going to choose an unethical caliber because you're too lazy to find a deer than ran 20 yards, you might be in need of a slap or two. EDIT: You people post too ...

Then you're making a rather unfair and unjust comparison.

I'm sure a .50 BMG would drop them better than a .243 as well, but that isn't the point. Use appropriate calibers for appropriate game. Back when the .204 first came out and Guns and Ammo did a write up about using it on African game, their advice was that the .204 can take up to small deer sized ga...

The topic of using the .204 for deer has come up more than once, and a general conclusion has been reached.

The .204 was not designed to hunt deer at 300+ yards, don't use it to do so. I wouldn't use it on a deer at ANY range, .243s exist for a reason.

Figured I might as well post in this thread, better late than never. The names Byron, currently 15 and couting. Been shooting since my dad put me behind a .25-06 around the age of 10, and fell in love with it. I'd like to get into it alot more seriously than I have, but my income is rather limited :...

I was looking into a higher powered scope, but my father likes the gun the way it is and says theres no need for a better scope. He says if I buy my own rifle I can do whatever the heck I want with it, but he payed for this one so I'm out of luck  Will order some 35grn Bergers either tonight or...

I will order some 35 Bergers as soon as I need more components, I'm running low on .25-06 brass so I should have an excuse =P Next time I go to the range, I'll reload some of load #17 for use at 200 yards, seeing as it performed the best out of the bunch. The rifle is just something I picked up with...

Acloco,

I'll look into one of the tools for measuring runout in a bit.

The stock doesn't appear to be applying any sideways pressure on the barrel, but I may open up the channel a bit with a sander just to see what it does. If that doesn't improve anything, I'll look to the bedding.

Scooter,

What equipment would I need to do so?

The barrel is already floated behind the pressure point at the forearm of the stock, so leave that and glass bed? Or glass bed and remove it?

Thanks a bunch.

The rifle came pressure bedded from the factory, think I should glass bed it and float the barrel, or check other areas that might be causing trouble as well. One thing I noticed when i removed the action a few minutes ago, is the action screws were VERY tight. It took me and my dad just to break th...
