Re: Started (relatively) Long Range Shooting....

It's pretty amazing to be able to shoot that far and actually hit what one is aiming at. I come from the mountains of NE WA and a long shot there is 200 yards. I'm pretty proud of how far I've come in the past few months.

Re: Started (relatively) Long Range Shooting....

Seeing the paint fleck off, and then waiting to hear the "ting" of the steel was pretty cool. I can't wait to finish my .308.

Started (relatively) Long Range Shooting....

Well, like most people I grew bored with punching paper at 100 yards, so I've decided to stretch it out a ways. I've been shooting my varmint calibers out to 400 yards on steel, and two months ago when my dad stopped by on his way home from Maine, we went 17 for 20 on clay birds at 375 yards. A coup...

Re: Another Laguna Madre Trip

I didn't know that we were allowed to shoot ducks if it wasn't raining sideways or frozen to point of having to knock holes in the ice for a landing.

just doesn't seem right. :D

LOL looks like a great time.

Re: Mystery ?

not to be gross... http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n30/savagerookie/Picture171-1.jpg this was a rabbit shot at 412 yards with a 40g vmax, IMVUO (In My Very Uneducated Opinion)it must have been shockwaves or simplly fear that killed the rabbit. I can't see anyway that a projectile travelling at th...

Re: New USMC Sniper Rifle XM3

$18g's equipted.

Only main gripe I have heard from the interent gossip queens is the 18.5" barrel. I don't know about suppressors at all but does that add to barrel length in terms of losing velocity at all?

Re: First Timer questions....

Well, decided to go duck/goose hunting this weekend, spent the rest of the time with the family, so didn't get to do much shopping. However, found a gunshop in KY (I think), called Bud's Gunshop selling the afore mentioned SW686 for a song; about 150$ cheaper than around here type of song. Another a...

Re: First Timer questions....

Well I made it to a few shops this evening, got to handle a few more different handguns. Following previous suggestions I got to look at a both a sig 226 elite and 239, as well as a few different revolvers. I tryed a limited amount of fullsize 1911's (para's, kimbers and a springfield) and liked the...

Re: First Timer questions....

Gary- No ranges around here that do that, might be one in Sioux Falls, but for now I am limited to the local gunshops. this weekend I plan on making the rounds and seeing what everyone has to offer local; see what fits, what feels good and general handling. I don't have a deadline to buy, so for now...
