Re: The cows and I team up.......
Good write-up and pics. Did you do any calling? I haven't had much luck with cows or horses in the pasture with me. My Foxpro seems like a cattle magnet. Glad someone is killing them, guess it will be a while before I can go.

Re: End of my rope
Maybe it just wants to shoot dirty! My Tikka varmint .223 doesn't shoot clean, but after 3-5 rounds, it really comes around. I just learned to live with it. Hopefully it's just something simple as that. Some of those groups really look nice. Keep us posted on your progress.

Re: End of my rope
Probably not an issue, but why don't you try a front mechanical rest and rear bag? I've shot from an early model "lead sled" (high recoiling turkey loads), and I don't think I could shoot a precision group from the sled. The one I used just wasn't precise enough to do accuracy work. Might ...

Re: Ecaller cheating
Sorry for the late reply. I'm in north Georgia.........way south! Yes, I have downloaded new sounds on my FX-3. Of course, I had to get help from my son (I'm technically challenged). However, the guys at Foxpro and All Predator Calls were most helpful. Now I can switch sounds for different predators...

Re: Ecaller cheating
I always take at least one mouth call in addition to my Foxpro.........just in case. I like the open reed calls, I can howl, or use as a distress call. I have way more unproductive stands than successful ones here in Ga., so I need all the help I can get!

Re: trouble with consistent reloads
I bought a set of the Hornady dies a while back..........didn't care for them. REALLY worked the necks too much. I've since bought a set of Redding bushing dies, and they work much better. I've also had better luck with Blitzkings than v-max in my guns.

Re: Finally made it out to South Dakota last week!
Baba, after reading about your trip, I feel guilty complaining about the wind! Our guide told us he is having to pay the landowners for us to shoot. We also had other shooters on one of our best ranches, so looks like it is getting crowded in the pd fields. All in all, we had a good trip.......can't...

Montana Trip
This year's trip was full of surprises, some good, some bad. After our flight, and 4 hr drive to our lodge, we discovered that one of our best pd ranches had been sold. That was bad enough, but seems the new owner didn't welcome pd shooters. Our other "best" ranch was wet from recent rains...

Re: My latest prairie dog adventure
Mike, looks like the hot weather didn't hurt your shooting! That Cooper looks right at home patrolling the pd fields. We're leaving early Thursday morning for Montana, but the weather reports call for a pretty good chance of rain every day. One ranch we shoot will be completely out of action if it r...

Re: Hot temps and prairie dogs??
Unless the "hotter" place doesn't have any targets, I wouldn't spend an extra 6 hrs driving time (per day). Our guide told me the pd population is down in the areas we normally shoot. And we may HAVE to drive an extra 3 hrs (one way) to find pd's, but we're going to be in Montana for a wee...

Re: Hot temps and prairie dogs??
Never really noticed hot temps and sun hurting the shooting. Sometimes there is a lull around lunchtime, but usually some targets. Clouds and rain are a different story. Wind is not a factor either. Not an expert, but have been to Montana the last 8 eight years shooting pd's. I think you'll be fine.

Re: Remington VSSF II bad?
Hawkeye Reloader, I went thru your same dilema, only in .223. I tried every load combination, powders, bullets, primers, etc, but never could get that gun to shoot. I called Remington, they said their factory standard was 1.45" @ 100 yds. I told them that this was their top of the line varmint ...
