Re: Finally made our Montana trip....
Side... we were shooting prairie dogs. The "survivors" that made it till August were a little on the nervous side, and often didn't present a follow-up shot if you missed. My shooting percentage was much better than last year, although I didn't waste time doing an exact count. My goal was ...

Finally made our Montana trip....
after cancelling in June due to rain and flooding. We've never been in August before, but they very rarely have the kind of weather they've experienced this spring and summer. Ranchers were still cutting hay, and it's still pretty green. Shooting was good, even though most of the fields we shot had ...

Re: 39 gr Sierra Blitzkings and Reloder 10X
Reviewed some notes from last year for 39 BK and 10X in my Cooper .204. A load of 24.0 grs of 10x produced a group of .087 at 100 yds and vel of 3570 fps. My normal load of Benchmark (25 grs) produced a group of .328 and vel of 3618 fps. I need to look further into 10x, but I'm unsure about temp sen...

PD report from Texas.......
my buddy called me yesterday to give a report. He said it was 102 degrees and HIGH winds. He said it was so dry and dusty it was hard to spot their targets. He said they shot early and around lunch the targets went down, so they called it a day. He also reported that there was not a blade of grass a...

Re: Reloading and new rifle???
I have two Cooper .204's. I shoot 32 gr Blitzkings in one and 39 Blitzkings in the other. I use Benchmark powder for both bullets. Limited experimenting with 10X also produced good results. I'm not sure about temp sensitivity with 10X and opted to stay with Benchmark for my pd loads. Cooper also sug...

Re: Problem with reloads
I had a similiar problem with my Cooper .204. Long story short...copper fouling was culprit. Sierra also said they were getting same type complaints. Fouled or rough bore was stripping the jacket off the bullet. After a GOOD cleaning, it's back to normal.

Ruger LC9.........
just had to have one, after reading the "not so flattering" reviews of the Solo. I bought the Ruger this week, and have put about 150 rounds thru it, without a glitch of any kind. VERY accurate, can keep shots inside a silver dollar at 10 yds. Trigger pull is smooth and reminds you of a go...

Kimber Solo 9mm........
has anyone shot, handled, or evaluated this handgun. Don't ask me why, but I have a wild hair about getting a small 9mm semi auto. This is coming from a dyed in the wool 1911 man, .45 cal of course. I have a S&W 642, small .38 cal for a pocket gun, but guess I'm needing to buy a new handgun. I d...

Re: Anyone tried Speer TNT..........
I'll give an "early" report on some loads I tried today. I loaded three powder charges with the 39 gr TNT and shot them at 100 & 200 yds. Three shot groups, first cold and clean shot group went into .699 at 100. Next load was increased .3 gr and three shots into .456. Last load .3 more...

Anyone tried Speer TNT..........
39 gr bullets in their .204? Not the "green" bullets, but standard TNT varmint 39 gr hollow points? Just picked up a box of bullets at Sportsman's Warehouse to try. The Speer b/c (.202) doesn't look to be that great compared to the Sierra 39 gr Blitzking (.270) that I'm shooting. But for t...

in my Cooper Varminter (.204, or course). Round count as of yesterday was 2452. Decided I better run some pd loads thru my guns to make sure they were "dialed in". Only difference was seating the bullet out further than in past years. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm233/nr123_photos/0...

Question for Rick and other 20vt shooters......
With all this talk about the 20vt, you have me second guessing my last .204 purchase. Before buying my Phoenix .204, Todd Kindler and Rob Behr(sp) tried to talk me into the 20vt. My research at the time convinced me that the 20vt wasn't quiet on par with the .204 (for pd's). My situation: once a yea...
