Question for 20 Vartarg shooters.....
trying to get some range data from my loads (drops at extended ranges). My question: do any of you have your drops at 300, 400, 500 yard distances? Just curious as to how my loads are matching up with others. I have my gun zeroed at 200, and the drops are not far off from my .204's, at least to 400 ...

Re: powder for 20 Vartarg
I've got good results with RL7. Accuracy was good, was hoping for more velocity, but am pretty happy. I did try some H4198 got better speed, but accuracy wasn't quite as good as the RL7. This is with limited experimenting, so I'm not "locked-in" on the RL7 powder. Haven't tried any litl gu...

Re: Load question.
I'm not real fond of the Hornady dies either. They work the neck WAY too much.........or at least mine did. If you measure the necks (without the decapping rod in the die), I think you will see what I mean. I finally followed our pd guide's advise, and went with the Redding bushing dies. Much better...

Re: Load question.
I would set up my seating die to the same COAL as your factory rounds. I got very good results with 10X using 23.5, 23.8, and 24.0 grs (and I used Win primers) in my Cooper. My smallest group was .087 with the 24.0 gr load (avg vel 3570 fps). I didn't try any loads past 24.0 grs using a 39 gr blitzk...

Re: My New-To-Me Cooper M38 MTV in 20VT
Beautiful gun, and looks like it really shoots. I'm having a lot of fun with my Mdl 21 Cooper in 20VT also. RL7 seems to shoot just a little smaller groups in mine, and I'm using 32 gr v-max also. Keep us posted on further groups and loads. Guess the pics of the "squirrel", or what's left ...

Trying to decide......
on what scope I want/need on my new Cooper VT. Currently, I have a Leupold Vari-X III, 4.5-14x40, adj obj, tactical, duplex reticle, on it (took off a Remington .308 LTR). I really like the varmint reticle, and have a 6.5-20 Leupold varmint reticle on a .204. I can get the reticle changed on the sco...

Cooper Vartarg.....
just couldn't resist the temptation. Rick and others have been a good/bad influence, and the lure of another Cooper rifle pushed me over the edge. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm233/nr123_photos/015.jpg I broke in the rifle with some loads of RL7 and 32 gr v-max. I have been working up some lo...

Re: cracked case mouths
I had "poor" luck reloading Hornady brass and finally gave up on it. What kind of dies are you using?

Re: OT: Nosler (Norma) 221FB Brass!
And here I am "patting myself on the back" for finding a good deal on Rem Fireball brass..........and buying 500 rounds of it!!!!!!!!!! Timing is everything. Just received an order from Cabelas of .221 brass at what I thought was a good price, and free shipping over $150. Guess I'll just h...

Re: Ruger LC9.........
Melvin, just an added note on shooting the LC9. The trigger is similiar to a good double action revolver trigger pull. You won't be able to shoot it like a 1911 using the pad of your trigger finger. However, this is a plus for me, since you can safely carry the gun with the safety off while in a poc...

Re: Ruger LC9.........
I now have around 300 rounds thru the LC9 with NO malfunctions. It will shoot the 115,124, and 147 gr bullets with no problems. I'm still impressed with the gun.

Re: Interesting info on Barrel life
I have a Cooper rifle in .204 (with Wilson bbl) and just turned over 2944 rounds thru it after our Aug prairie dog shoot. Before I left, I shot some groups at 100 yds-.243", 200 yds-.399" and 300 yds-.710". I put 474 rounds thru the gun on this trip, and plan to shoot and evaluate the...
