Re: Cooper Model 21 - action Screw torque

My booklet on my Mdl 21, 20 vt, (assume it would be the same for .204) says front action screw 35 in lbs. Rear action screw is 25 in lbs.

Re: Where to buy

I have been buying from Midsouth, but after my recent purchase from Brad, I'm really happy. Good prices, quick service, and reasonable shipping..........can't beat that!

Re: throat erosion=barrel life?

One of my .204's has over 3000 rounds thru it, and will still shoot 1/2" at 200 yds. The throat looks pretty bad, but it still shoots!

Re: Cooper rifles

Check out my previous post "Think the target tells all...". I think it is a pretty good evaluation of Cooper rifles. This was my FIRST Cooper rifle.......now have three. I guess it is a curse. I prefer to call it having a great looking rifle that shoots great!

Re: Think the target tells all.......

When the time comes, I'll send it back to Cooper. I'm sure there are better barrels out there, (and maybe not), but I sure can't argue with the round count and accuracy from the original barrel.

Think the target tells all.......

Trying to make up my mind to rebarrel now, before next pd trip, or try to get another trip out of my Cooper Varminter, .204. I have a little over 3000 rounds thru my Cooper, and I did have it bore scoped "before" my last trip. A lot of heat cracking in the throat, but still did a good job ...

Re: Trigger safety test question.

I would just "bounch" the but of the rifle on a carpeted floor.....5-6" should be fine. At least, that works for me.

Buy a Cooper rifle, great shooters and less than a custom build. I'm sure other Cooper shooters will chime in later!

Re: 39 gr blitz kings trouble grouping

My go-to powder in both my 204's is Benchmark. I shoot 32 gr Blitzkings in one gun, and 39 gr Blitzkings in the other. However, some "limited" experiments with 10X was very good too. Could be your gun just may not shoot the Blitzkings.

Re: Hornady z-max bullets

I spoke to a tech at Hornady a couple of weeks ago, he said the z-max was exactly the same bullet, except for the bullet tip color. I have seen some good deals on these bullets, but you have to get on a "waiting list". But, good things (and prices) are worth waiting for.

with some decent groups. Shot groups at 200-500 yds with a slight wind, but more mirage. I shot the first group at 500 and had to drive to the hanger to see where the shots hit (about 5" to the right), marked with a slash. Went back and shot the next group (circled) which was even better. The l...

Re: .204 brass?

Cabelas has a pretty good price, but better hurry. Their sales on brass and bullets may just last for a few days. Check their website. They did have free shipping over $99.
