Re: Cooper .204 OAL Length Question
I talked with Rob Behr (sp?) that used to be with Cooper, after buying my first Cooper .204. He recommended oal of 2.235" for the .204. I tried it, and it works for me. We all know that measuring to the tip of the bullet isn't an exact measurement, but you can measure to the ogive with the righ...

Re: 300 yd groups
Captqc, yes, the Phoenix is a .204. The load I was shooting was: 24.7 grs of Benchmark with a 39 gr Blitzking. (Usual rules apply, start lower and work up). However, this is not a max load, but the Phoenix has a tight chamber, and loads thru it are faster than thru my Varminter. This load chronys ab...

Re: 300 yd groups
Doubt if I could do it again, but last group at 300 yds with my Cooper Phoenix measured ctc .418", (3 shots). I kept that target!

Re: Problems with forster full length die
Hope I didn't give the wrong impression about Forster. They have been very helpful and have bent over backward to help me on reloading questions and issues. They told me they just didn't have the equipment to make a sizing die the exact size I needed. While on a pd trip, I ran out of ammo for my Pho...

Re: Problems with forster full length die
I've also got a set of Forster dies, and they work fine on one .204, but the other with a tight chamber doesn't size enough. I even sent in some brass to Forster to see if they could make me a die, and the answer was.......no. However, after a suggestion from Hornady, I tried a set of their dies, an...

Re: OFF TOPIC........FYI
Scooter, that is the kind of news we don't want to hear. My prayers go out to you and your family. We never know what is in the big plan for each of us, but hopefully the Dr.'s are wrong. Hang in there, and don't give up.

What's your round count....
on your .204? Just curious as to how many rounds you've fired, and how is the accuracy? I've got over 2000 rounds thru my Cooper varminter, and it is still very accurate. I hope it will hold up for several more pd trips, and re-barreling will not be needed (in the near future).

Trip down memory lane...........
Here is my favorite duty revolver I carried for several years........ http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm233/nr123_photos/291-1.jpg I was able to buy this gun after they were replaced with a Mdl 22 Glock. And my favorite 1911 I carried after retiring with DNR, and working as a reserve with the She...

Be sure and try some Benchmark too. Of course with 10 lbs of 10x, let's hope that works best! Keep us posted as to how it shoots.

Re: I'm worried: 32 gr VMax
My Coopers will shoot both the 32 and 39 gr blitzkings. I shoot 32 gr in one gun, and 39 gr in the other. I may throw some 40 gr v-max in the mix for June, but want to experiment a little more if I can find the time. Turkey season opens Sat. and that is my main focus for now.

Re: I'm worried: 32 gr VMax
Switch to Blitzkings and see if that helps. At first, neither of my .204's liked v-max's either, but for some reason they seem to shoot them pretty well now. Maybe it took 1000-2000 rounds to settle them down! Who knows???

Re: Bullet choices and my dilemma..
I'm assuming you don't reload, but sounds like maybe you should. My Cooper Varminter didn't really like any of the factory loads I tried either, but when I started reloading for it, different story. It really shoots the 32 gr blitzkings, and lately has developed a liking for 40 gr v-max. I believe y...

We might as well "pour it on"...........
I got the Phoenix stock on one, and Varminter stock on the other, but "baby" them both in the field.
