Re: Savage Model 25 Walking Varminter Bench Rest
Welcome. I don't shoot a lot of factory loadings but the best factory ammo I've ever shot has been Fiocchi with v-max bullet in the 50 round box, 32 & 40 grain if your rifle likes 40. I've got 1 rifle that shoots it so well that I don't even load for it. The 2nd best I've found has been the Nosl...

Re: FFP Reticles
Well, I guess that's why they make both. I bought 2 FFP's kept them 1 month and took a loss but ditched them both. Me personally, if the FFP were cheaper, I would not buy one. Just MHFO.

Re: 204 ar options
KLR, me personally I'd stay away from the Olympic or DPMS. I've got friends that have not had good luck with them. I think they are discontinued now but if I could find a Rock River in 204 I'd buy that. My suggestion is to buy an lower off gunbroker or the likes & Put in the trigger & stock ...

Re: New 17HMR Upper
Yes, I did look at Alexander then at Rimfire Central I just happen to see an ad for Ray-Vin. After researching both I decided for the Ray-Vin. The reason is I don't want to have to modify my lower so with RV you just put the supplied buffer & spring in and shoot. Plus I called twice & Ray an...

New 17HMR Upper
Hello. I just received my new Ray-Vin 17HMR upper (ray-vin.com). I had Ray put a 10.25" Diamondhead VRS-T hand guard on it & with the 18" fluted SS barrel it's truly awesome looking. The Diamondhead measures 10.25" of picatinny top rail & 11.75" on the bottom because of t...

17 HMR AR UPPER
I was fooling around at RFC & saw a 17 hmr upper you can have built by Ray-Vin. After emailing & talking on the phone to Ray, a super nice guy, I ordered one. The barrel is a 18" stainless Green Mountain fluted & I had him order a Diamondhead VRS T-556 hand guard to put on it. It co...

Re: Vihtavuori powder for 204 Ruger
Ramos, Jim, thank ya'll a bunch. I guess I'll start with the N133 & carefully work it at .2 grain increments. Thanks guys & if you have any suggestions, what caliber?, for the Pro Varmint, let me know.

Re: 20" barrel twist/port size advice
Hey bigbuck28, I assume you are talking about a .204 Ruger caliber since you said 35 Berger's. I don't know about port size but whatever White Oak Armory drills theirs works for me. Also my WOA 204 24" barrel is a 1-10 twist & it really likes 35 Berger's. On the other hand, my Kimber Pro Va...

Vihtavuori powder for 204 Ruger
Hello. I was just given 3lbs. each of N133 & N135. The Vihtavuori load data lists a 32 grain using N135 and a 39 grain using N133. I want to shoot 35 grain Berger's so which powder do you suggest using? There's so little data on the Vihtavuori powers but I heard they were good shooting and clean...

Re: What parts are you running?
Another cocked, locked, & loaded question. In my case I wanted a good looking good shooter that I could say " I BUILT THIS MYSELF FROM SCRATCH". I have ALS and needed a hobby so for a couple months I studied the internet through you tubes, articles, forums, etc.& taught myself abou...

Re: What parts are you running?
WOW!!! What a loaded question. Let me start by saying, I have six AR target/varmint rifles and all of them have the Geissele SSA-E trigger. I've used Black Rain, CMC, Timmney, etc. and nothing comes close to the Geissele. If you decide to build a .223 & you like the looks, you'd be hard pressed ...

Re: 204 Ruger AR barrel
Nothing at all. I like Shilen & use them just for some reason my Shilen 204 barrel did not shoot consistent. Using CFE & H322 some days I'd shoot great groups in the 2's & 3's. Next week maybe same load loaded at the same time might shoot 1 moa or 7's & 8's. I don't know if was tempe...
