Re: ruger m77 .204 blew up
scary stuff, indeed. it appears that all loading and shooting bases have been properly executed, and if so, that leaves only the firearm in question.

Re: .204r savage 12fv makeover
i've used boyds stocks for a rem 700, winch 70 and marlin xs7vh - for the dollars and quality, i find it hard to beat a boyds stock.

since all rifles and trigger pullers are different, only yer personal testing will tell ya what boolit and powder and charge yer rifle will like best. there are no shortcuts nor fast-food answers to consistent accuracy. happy testing.

Re: Ruger predator in 204
in comparing the RAR and RAP 22" barrels, there isn't much more meat to the RAP tube ... not enuf that would help it dissipate heat in lots (3 to 5, or more) of close consecutive firings, imho. the savage 12fv with its Much heavier (and longer 26") near bull barrel should help a huge amoun...

Re: barrel floating
there's a trade-off compromise for everything. i wanted to add weight, mainly in the butt stock and now the total rifle weight (with scope and bipod) is a bit over 10# which is good with me. stiffening the front end with rockite added at best maybe 6 ounces and cured it from bending and touching the...

Re: barrel floating
that's the first thing i make sure of with any rifle added to my gun closet - float the barrel past the action. only takes some hefty sandpaper and big dowel and some elbow grease. i want a LOT of room twixt barrel and stock. if the rifle's stock is that synthetic wiggly plastic, in almost all cases...

Re: Ruger predator in 204
i have an RAR in .243win and i really like it. i used rockite to stiffen the fore end and add weight to the butt end and after a good barrel break-in, going throgh a variety of my hand loads, it's doing a consistent under 3/4" grouping without cooling down the 22" sporter barrel. http://i....

Re: Lee collet dies and rcbs x-die
i neck size only for brass that's been used in my bolt and s/s rifles. it just makes sense on many levels. there is no need to further stress the brass by full length sizing, and brass that's been fireform oriented is best for consistency/accuracy. i hand load for all my firearms, using mostly reddi...
