Re: Why no H4198 Loads?

I have tried H4198 in my 204 with 32 gr bullets with good success but setteled on a load of 27grs H322 with 32gr Sierra's. No difference in accuracy in my Tikka and i have an 8 lb jug of H322. H4198 is my go to powder in the 222, which doesn't see much action lately.

Re: Matching factory loads

I haven't found factory ammo very accurate in the two 204 rifles i have, the Rem sps varmint will pattern not group with Hornady and Win factory and the Tikka sightly better. Not hard to find a good load with Sierra bullets and several different powders. My Tikka doesn't seem to like Hornday bullets...

Re: 32GR OR 39GR ?

My Tikka preferes 32gr bk's, haven't found a load with any Hornady bullets that will group less than 1". I have some other 39 and 40 gr bullets to try just need the tjme to do it. I'm very happy with the 32gr Sierras out to 300 on coyotes and gophers.

Re: 204 LOADING MANUALS

I don't bother buying new load manuals just go to the powder company's web site and print off the data i need. The last load book i bought was obsolete shortly after i got it with new cartridges comming out.

Re: Stupid question - consistency vs accuracy?

In my T3 and a sps varmint Hornady factory ammo was a bust, more like a pattern than a group. I haven't had good luck with hornady bullets either and prefere SBK's in both rifles. I use Hornady bullets in pretty much every other cartridge i load but haven't had any luck in the 20 caliber. As for con...

Re: Tell us about yourself...

Hi John here, live on farm in Saskatchewan. Have a Tikka t2 lite in 204 that gets used for coyotes and other vermin around the pastures. Like the 204 for coyotes as it's friendlier on the fur than the 22-250 or 243. Been shooting and hunting for 50 years and reloading for over 40 years.

Re: Rem 700 sps varmint

Three toes i had a sps varmint for a year or so and sold it to my son and bought a tikka t3 lite for coyote hunting, both where 204. The sps is to heavy when walking in snow calling coyotes, i'm getting on in years and out of shape as well so i like a lighter rifle. The sps has a slight edge at the ...
