Re: I'm tired of EXTREME

I'm glad I'm not the only one here who has noticed ZERO interest in the "extreme" posts. I would have thought by now that the OP would have noticed that no one here cares one iota about this silly pursuit. My inbox shows that you're not the only one who feels this way. Remember the old sa...

Re: CZ-527 Varmint Kevlar sure loves 39 blitz’s

Bill all my .20's built since that time have gotten 1 in 11 twist Pac-Nor 3 groove's for barrels. With the 1 in 11 the 40 grain Hornady shoots real well and costs less then the BlitzKing too. I wish that had been the standardized twist for the .204 from the start. As you know ya always pick the twis...

Re: CZ-527 Varmint Kevlar sure loves 39 blitz’s

I'm near Geezerhood and been reloading since the 60's. Over the years ya hear about a magic powder or bullet for a specific round and ya eventually come to believe that there are no magic bullets or powders :( , they like what they like. I drifted along for a lotta years with my cynical view of comp...

Re: Anyone here familiar with the Leupold VX3i 6.5X20X40?

Thanks Rick. Sometimes newer means better and sometimes it means cheaper to make :chin: . First it was a Vari-X-III, "top shelf", a year or 2 back it was a VX3 and as of 2015 it's a VX3i, gives one pause don't it :duh: ? Where I live the stores don't stock an array of options to compare so...

Anyone here familiar with the Leupold VX3i 6.5X20X40?

I have a fair number of Leupold Vari-XIIs and Vari-XIIIs in 6X20X40's as well as other upper powers. I am now curious about the new Leupold VX3i-6.5X20X40 and am curious how the VX3i's compare? This one would be the "6.5X20X40 EFR Target" and I'm not in a situation to get my hands on one t...

I think things are looking pretty nice around here. A certain amount of 'change' is good for us cranky old farts! Helps keep our minds a little more flexible, even if our bodies are not. Who you call'n an ole fart ya ole fart?? I'll show you cranky...as soon as I get this kink outta my back ...

Re: who is shooting a CZ 527 American 204

Can't speak to the American but not to awful long after the .204 came out CZ introduced the 527 Varmint Kevlar in .204 with an HS Precisions stock, I bought one. That woulda been early in 2005. It was a 1/2 inch-ish rifle outta the box with it's favorite load being created in WW cases using RL 10X a...

Re: Remington accu tip made by hornady!!!

It's "Badge Engineering", happens all the time. Remington hasn't made .17 caliber bullets for many years, nor .20's ever. They can't do all the R&D and produce them for the small amount of them they actually sell so they just contract them made with their color tips. The 20 grain Accu-...

Re: Rem 700 aftermarket triggers

On one of my 700's that is chambered for the .20 Tactical I had a Kepplinger single set installed. Mine is set up for 2lbs unset for cold fingered coyote hunting and 8oz set for p-dogs or range shooting. I like single set triggers and IMO this one is top shelf. As everything the price has gone up, I...

Re: Development of .204 Ruger and Choice to use 223 Magnum

At the time the .204 was first released a lot of wildcatters bemoaned the fact that Todd Kindler's .20 Tactical wasn't chosen instead. In "Small Caliber News" when the .20 Tactical first appeared Todd touted the .20 Tactical as "a 4,350FPS death ray". Most couldn't or wouldn't ge...

Re: AR with 1-7 twist ?

Recommended twist rates are a funny thing. I was mentored into an AR after many years of swearing I never wanted to see one again as long as I lived. I bought a Bushmaster Predator with a 1 in 8 twist knowing that twist would work well with heavy bullets..."WRONG"! 55 and 60 grainers with ...

Re: cz 527 kevlar with the new style stock?

H S Precision had CZ's first contract for the older design Varmint Kevlar stock and later they went with the same design produced by Bell and Carlson. I have 3 of the HS stocks and really like em a lot but like you, I'm not fond the new look although I'm sure it's still the same great rifle. HS Pre...

Re: Help me decide: 24" Shilen 1:9 vs 20" mcgowen 1:11

Have you considered the possibility of a Pac-Nor Super Match 3 groove? They make them in the following twists 7" 8" 8.50" 9" 10" 11" 12" 14" and 16". A 10" twist might allow you to cover all the base including the lighter bullets. I've used the 11&qu...
