Re: Primer choices
If you can't find Rem 7-1/2s, I've had just as good of luck with Federal 205M, if those are available to you.

Re: Which 204 brass is better for reloading?
When I bought my rifle, I also bought a little short of 400 rounds of 40-grain Hornady factory ammo from the same lot, simply because it wasn't any more expensive than buying brass. I've put all of them through at least four firings, and they still shoot fine. The first time I tried reloaded them, I...

Re: Little disappointed...
Yes, it is quite common, Hornady 40-grainers can be tough.
If you can swing it, try the 39-grain Sierras. And try them over RE-10x, if you have it.

Re: Silencer affecting shot
One reason I've seen mentioned often is that the threads are not *quite* concentric to the bore. Factory barrels are notorious for it, and threads done by a gunsmith vary in concentricity by gunsmith, and sometimes by the day it was done...

Their site now has a "Grand Opening" ad on the front page...maybe they sold the operation.

Re: Cleaning brass
As a newbie to reloading, which way is quieter.....tumbler or sonic? From what I have seen of the machines, sonic. Bill K :) Indeed, not even close. The ultrasonic cleaners have a small buzz, that's about it. But, IMHO, all of the rinsing and drying doesn't make it worth it. I just put the old vibr...

Re: Got My new barrel back
I had some loads from my old barrel and was gonna break in the barrel and they wouldn't even fit in the chamber Mark, I think maybe if you full length size your brass from your other barrel, it might work. I would be willing to bet that it will. :chin: This is relevant to my interests... I'm about ...

Re: ruger m77 .204 blew up
I also would like to know the findings on this one. Overload for your rifle or slip up on powder charge ? Thankfully you were not injured seriously. Bill K Usually, by the time you're so overpressure that you've blown it up, a simple high charge of powder isn't the culprit any more, it's a bore obs...

Re: Sources for new 204 cases
When I got my rifle, I bit the bullet and just bought 350 rounds of Hornady cartridges at just under $1 each. I know that a lot of people don't like Hornady, but once they're filled with 39 SBKs and RE-10x, they do terrific for me. 1/2-MOA or less at 100 yards, and I just shot a sub-3" group at...

Re: silencer (suppressor) ?
The easy way is to double up - plugs AND muffs. Keep in mind that even with a suppressor, a rifle is still usually not completely hearing-safe without ear pro. In any event, $200 is the cost of the tax stamp. There is a considerable wait for the ATF to approve your application. There are a variety o...

Re: On barrel life, round count, and bullet stabilization
Well, the drama continues. I went out yesterday, after cleaning that barrel like no barrel had ever been cleaned before. Two foulers, then started at 400 yards, and owned everything. Went out to 500 yards, first four shots went into 3". Next few, off by a little. Then, I might as well have been...

Re: Savage Model 10 with the 'Heavies'
39 sierras work very well in my 1:12 savage model 12... 40 bergers stabilize, but don't shoot quite as accurately as the sierras. Factory hornady loads with 40 vmax are moa or smaller for me.

Re: WTB Savage Accutrigger Center Blade Part
I don't know if this is gospel, but I have heard that savage will not sell trigger parts, only entire trigger assemblies. That being said, plenty of people replace their accutrigger with aftermarket triggers, if you hang around the savage-specific sites, you could probably pick up an entire trigger ...
