I'd like to say that I truly appreciate all of the advice given here so far. It will be at least this weekend before I can get the new scope, get it mounted, and go put some rounds down range, but I'll report.

Could you elaborate on the reasons?

I'm using it because I have a good supply of it. The factory 40grain V-max loads shoot so well in my rifle that I bought two hundred and some-odd rounds of it to get me started, and to use for brass.

The winner of last year's 100-yard group contest at my local range won it with a Cooper in .204 Ruger. The target hangs on the wall of the office, 0.04" grouping.

Gotta love those Savages. I love the 2 Savage 204s that I have. They like the same loads. Wait til you shoot a 39 gr Blitzking! Take whichever ammo you've found to group best in your guns (the Eley recommendation is a great one...), use a ballistics calculator, and figure out how much you dial down your scope for that range. Then go, verify your zero, and shoot your best.
