Re: Savage Action
thanks so much for the info. I'm having a hard time deciding what caliber to make it. Any suggestions? I dont really need another big caliber gun but hey, maybe I will. Yes...actually, I do. Have a barrel, dies, and brass inbound to me sometime next week. 280 Rem...almost nearly the same power as a...

Re: Savage Action
Forgot to mention, your action may have a "three screw" trigger from the factory. Includes an extra adjustable screw for sear engagement. Very desirable to have. Change the wire on the side of the trigger assembly to 0.040" spring wire, clean and adjust the trigger, and you should end...

Re: Low Recoil & Big Distance...?
6.5x55 or 6.5x55 AI. Step up to the 140/142 grain bullets. 1K is where the long bullets shine. I built a 6.5x55 AI expressly to shoot long distance on prairie dogs, yotes, deer, etc. A work transfer prevented ringing my rifle (and the twin that I built with it for my shooting buddy) to find out how ...

Re: Savage Action
Flat back or round back (is the top of the rear receiver flat or round - where the scope base mounts)?
If the action has an accutrigger, action should be a round receiver.
Most Savage/Stevens long actions sell for $175 to $250.

That is a rather accurate 6mm AI that I have had the pleasure to shoot at steel on a couple of occasions.

New 22 RF semi auto.... Problems?
Purchased one of these from J & G: http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/p/issc-austria-m22%2C-22lr%2C-4in-black-m111000-new/products_id/4635 Function and accuracy is good. IMHO, actually, accuracy is VERY good for a 4" barrel. Handgun is just the right size for my hand and is lightweight...

Re: VLD Chamfering Tools
I use a VLD attached to my RCBS brass prep center. Just a touch....for the inside...and you are done.
Would like a multi flute outside chamfer tool, the one slot on the RCBS center is slow and does not do that good of job.

Re: Which Press
Go single stage. I prefer the Forster Co Ax (no shell holders needed). About as close to being an inline press as you can have, while still having plenty of leverage to size whatever you need to.

Re: Another ND Coyote Hunt on 12-7-2010
SilverFox's pictures and story only tell half the story. That country that he calls home and hunts in, is some of THE toughest country in the states. No, I have not travelled all of the states, but I have travelled quite a bit of it. Geographically, I grew up about 550 miles due WEST of this area. L...

Re: 40x stock on remmy 700?
About the only thing you need to do...bed the action to the stock.
I have a 40X repeater stock...spare. Needs refinished, but a nice stock. Email me if you want it.

Re: Need some ideas
Long action cartridges will feed better from the mag box you have. Any caliber that uses the same bolt head will be a good fit - 25/06, 270, 280, 30/06, 338/06, etc. Should have that action/bolthead checked by a competent gunsmith. I could REALLY use that split barrel for teaching class. Would at le...
