Re: Good info.

OOPS... I meant "Horizontal" stringing... YIKES, my poor (old) mind. lol Rick, sorry to hear about the stroke. Sounds (& looks/target) like you are doing well now. Anyway, I'm glad you want to shoot the 39gr bullet, as it really is the best one IMHO. 27gr of Benchmark, win brass & ...

Re: Good info.

p.s. vertical stringing can also happen when your hand loosens up on the grip

Re: Good info.

Ditto skipper on the load being too light. I easily get 4000+ fps w/the 32gr bullets in my 204. Can't recall exact charge of RL10X I used though. Notes not handy right now. RL10X is one of the very best powders in the 204, no doubt about it... however yesterday I shot 27grs of Benchmark & the 39...

Re: Newbie to reloading

tc, until today, my favorite powder for the 204 was RL10X with the 39gr Sierra My favorite load is now 27gr of Benchmark with the 39gr bullet. Extremely accurate and fast. One, FIVE shot group was 3/8" at 100 yards. Another 5 shot group was also good with 5 shots in 1/2". The 3rd group was...

Re: RE-10x

If it ain't broke, don't fix it... heard that somewhere before!

There is no better powder for the 204 than RL10X from the hundreds of rounds & too numerous of loads (& powders) I've tested in the last 2 1/2 yrs... Especially with the 39gr Sierra bullet!

Good Luck

Re: Trouble with 700 VLS

DITTO Willyp19 & Berg on their 204 load... 39gr Sierra , RL10X powder(around 25gr + or -), Fed 205 primer & I use Winchester Brass. Dead nuts accurate at a chrono'd 3660 fps from my VLS... BTW, there is another post in the reloading section where someone put a spread sheet together of all th...

Re: Top 3 Powders for the 204 Ruger

RL10X RL10X RL10X w/25gr & the 39gr Sierra Blitzking... 5 shot 1/2" groups at 100 yards consistantly @ over 3700 fps Varget worked well, but slower velocity and slightly less accurate... Benchmark worked best with the 32 gr bullets for me. H4895 also did very well, but again with slight les...

Re: Need loads for my first .204

The 39gr Sierra B.K. & RL10X powder for the 204 is darn near impossible to beat in terms of both accuracy & velocity combined; & is my favorite load (w/25grs @ 3700+ fps). I say this after close to a thousand rounds & litterly d o z e n s of various loads tested in my 204. The poor /...

Re: 39 BK's w/ Varget?

27.5 grs does excellent with that powder & bullet in my Remmy... However, 25grs of RL10X gives as good a accuracy but with higher velocity... around 75' more going by my lousy memory ?!?!?

Good Luck

Re: good suggestions to start reloading

39 gr Sierra blitz kings with 25gr RL10X and Fed 205 match primer... My OAL is a bit long @ 2.348" so be careful on yours... The 40gr Vmax & Nosler ballistic tips were not as consistent no matter the powder or charge. A disappointment for me, as the Noslers work great in my 223 & 22-250...

Mr. Pillow, it looks to me your load may be just a tad light is all. I use 40gr noslers in mine & with the H4895 powder the best accuracy was at 27grs. Actually 30grs of BLC-2 did even better. Also, while your groups may not be bad, they certainly should be better, even with a light rifle... at ...
