Re: Let's Talk Triggers

I have a Timney on my Rem 700 and love it. It is also a LOT cheaper than the Jewel and really doubt the average varmint / predator / target shooter would know the difference between the two in terms of adjustment, creep etc. In other words all you get with a jewel is a much HIGHER price tag, again w...

Re: 32 gr BK's and Benchmark

Benchmark is my favorite powder with RL10X a close 2nd.

Anyway, I was using 28 grs of Benchmark with the 32 gr bullet at over 4,000 fps in 75 degree temp.

However, a much better load in my rifle was with the 39gr Sierra bullet blitz king with 27 grs of Benchmark at over 3700 fprs.

Good Luck

Re: REm 700 VL SS thumbhole Loads

buck, welcome to the forum... I have that exact same rifle and love it. My rifle LOVES the 39gr Sierra Blitz King bullet with 27grs of Benchmark powder, Winchester brass & Fed 205 Match primers at over 3700 fps in cool weather. Considerably faster in hot weather. The last 3, "5" shot g...

Re: what is your #1 bullet choice?

Well, according to your poll (aka; "trend") the 39gr Sierra is way out in front. Which I totally agree with also. I've shot close to 800 rounds in my 204 using numerous powders and dozens of loads with the 32gr, 40gr, 39gr, 36 grenade, 43 tnt bullets etc, and while some come close, they ca...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

I have a Boyd laminate on my 204 that I mentioned above. Nice stock, but gotta admit I had it glass bedded, free floated, action trued and Timney trigger installed. So the %^&* thing better shoot, right? LOL The H-S Precision on my 223 is the one I did not do anything to... yet! And doubt that I...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

Ok, someone has to be the devils advicate here, so guess I am it. While I have owned dozens of centerfire rifles over many decades (yeah I'm old/lol) and while (almost) everyone was glass bedded, free floated with many having the action trued, triggers replaced on both my factory and custom rifles e...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

Yep, good points Rick, especially the stress relief part that I forgot about. OH... btw on the bottom pic; is that an H-S Precision stock? I have one (desert camo) on my 223 Rem & was thinking about putting one (similar color as yours) on my 204 as I really like their stocks. Anyway, yours looks...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

Funny ! Yes, Graham, you are correct on the cooling off faster... And is what I was referring to above when I mentioned thin barrels heating up and "cooling" off quicker. While thinner barrels can indeed be very accurate, they will not maintain their accuracy or point of impact during &quo...

Re: To Flute? Or Not To Flute?

Well, I would imagine it to be more of a personal choice; if one likes flutting or not / the looks of it etc. I personally do not care for flutting, nor do I believe it aids in anything for accuracy or coolilng off & semi consider it just another marketing gimic. But that is just me, and of cour...

Re: Faulty RUGER

Bruce, sorry to hear about your terrible results with your Ruger. That is extremely irritating and frustrating to say the least. Another option is to write/type a letter to Ruger. NO E mail, as E mails get ingnored or put on the back burner... sometimes forever. Anyway, myself and others have gotten...

Re: Coyote Help

Well Graham, having a mentor would obviously be the best but most folks do not get that luxury. Soooo, the next best things are: Go to "ALLPREDATORCALLS.COM" on the net & give ole A.P. Jones a call and order a couple of Randy Anderson's dvds or video's. They are all good; "Calling...

Re: Good info.

Rick, somewhere in the neighborhood of 3700 to 3800+ fps in cooler temps & low elevations. Well over 3800 fps in 95+ degrees and especially if much elevation (3,000' & above) is added.

Pls let us know your results should you happen to test and chrono this load.

Good Luck

Hey Graham, welcome to the forum and Conrats on your fine Rem purchase. I'm basically new here also, even though I joined nearly 2 1/2 yrs ago. lol Just haven't posted much is why I say that. Anyway, pay attention now... TIMNEY is the trigger you want; TRUST me on this, ok? lol They can be had for a...
