I would go with the VLP. It's a solid rifle, and will surprise you with it's accuracy. As far as ragidity goes,I don't think the 204 has enough kick to make a difference. I lug my VLP with a 29 inch Harris bipod around,So if your a young Buck, you'll have no trouble at all.I think I'm unconsciously d...

Contender Hunter
SWEET RIFLE!!

Skipper
Be sure to post a pic with target ASAP 8) .The only thing that scares me about a custom rifle like yours is that it will probably shoot better without me behind it .I suggest you lay off the coffee a week before it arrives :!: :P

Glen Don't forget to tell everybody it comes with a extra battery  A new guy at work picked up the same set,And I got to admit,They're not bad.Deburr the sharp edges on the jaws and they're good to go!! You will see that exact caliper with different names on it for $50 and up . Rugerdogdog...

WP
Loaded = .227 also. Upon further review, I measured with a Blade Mic (instead of digital calipers)and found the Fired necks to have a .001 taper..231 on shoulder end to .230 on the tip.

I guess it's time for me to put the other foot in the water  Thanks!

WP No neck turning needed on THIS lot of 100 cases.Wall thickness was within .0005.I never had a need to anneal until now  .The Hornady brass I have was hard to neck size after 4 reloads. They needed annealing BIG Time! I probably tossed 8 or so in the scrap bin because of loose primer pockets...

I think Winchester adds 5 bad cases to every bag of 100 :P .After sorting out the bad ones, they have been trouble free throughout 8 loadings.Other than that,No problems at all.

Skipper
Ever check to see how uniform the hardness is after annealing??

MrPillow Thats exactly what my Savage VLP did with the 40 grain Berger's.Runout was less than .00075 .They just didn't shoot well.Maybe a stabilization problem with your rate of twist and bullet design?? On the other hand, the 35 Berger's,40 Vmax and 39BK's are all under a dime at 100 yards with a ...

My favorite 35 grain Berger load shoots just under a inch at 200 yards. 28.2 H4895.Rem 7 1/2 primer,Winchester brass. My length from base to tip is 2.265. You need to get a Stoney Point Chamber-All tool from http://www.sinclairintl.com to find out what "OVERALL LENGTH" your chamber will all...

If you can't get it out, try putting it in the freezer to break it loose. When you take it out, try to warm die with with your hand while pulling on the case.

 I never loaded for the 20 Vartarg but any time I got a stuck case the problem was lack of lube.Did you lube the neck on the inside??. I had a stuck case once and my fix was to squirt Hornady One Shot case lube in the vent hole on the die and out it came.Lack of lube was my problem.I'm sure the...

My friends Savage FV is a sweet shooter. It got it's first 50 rounds down the pipe today. We shot 40 gr Vmax's and 35 grain Bergers today. To my surprise the 40Vmax's shot very well with 26.9 grains of H4895.I had loads in .2 grain increments up to 27.7. The Bergers shot well throughout the ladder loa...
