Re: Yugo mauser

I have the M48 8X57JS Mauser(.323 bore). The PRE 1905 "J" version models used a .318 bore so be careful!! They're some pretty accurate rifles with hand loads(H4895 and 175gr Sierra SPT). It's favorite factory ammo was Remington round nose core-lokt's, I think they had 200 grain bullets. Mo...

Re: XR-100

Is my bud Rick bashing ugly rifles again  :P Savage is also the new rifle supplier for our state troopers  . I just recently purchased a new Savage BAT/S for the sole purpose of out shooting my buddies Bushmaster Custom Perimeter sniper rifle in .308 with Remington action. He was so proud...

See if you can have a lineup of the different brands and try them all out. If he does that, He'll be stuck with another Nikon product  .... I have the 10x36 Nikon Dream Season and they are flawless just like all my other Nikon products. Never had a mechanical issue with anything that sports th...

Re: 204 Ruger wins 300 yard belly match

Graystone Most of the matches we shoot are for fun. And FUN they are. The weekly 100 yard off-hand match is one of my favorite!! We also have a few National matches as well as a John Garand match. The load I was using was my standard 204 load. 26.6gr Benchmark,Old annealed Winchester brass(my predat...

Re: 204 Ruger wins 300 yard belly match

I was surprised by the number of bolt guns shooting the match. It's a lot more work shooting a bolt compared to a semi auto. I shot my Les Baer .223 last year with a bipod. At the last match in 08 we voted to shoot without bipods in 09, Sling only! I caught some crap last year from my match buds tel...

204 Ruger wins 300 yard belly match

Today we had our first 300 yard prone match(sling only).About 12 shooters showed and Yours truly won with his trusty Savage Predator with a compass in the stock  . The weather was nice and sunny with a switchy 15-20 mph wind. I got a few looks/laughs before the match and answered questions abou...

Re: AR 15 trigger

I have a two stage Jewell trigger on my AR and love it. The first stage pull will adjust from 1 to 3 1/2 pounds. The second stage range is from a few ounces to 3 1/2 pounds. You need to add up the two stages to get a TOTAL pull weight.

Re: 35 gr bergers OR 40 gr hornady v-max

If splating rats is your game the 40 Vmax's might be more fun. But if coyote's are teasing you, the 35gr Berger's are the proven ticket. My brother just tried my 26.6gr Benchmark load(Fed 205m primer, OAL 2.260) with the 35gr Berger's out of his Savage VLP. The first group with SHORT brass was about...

Re: Dogtown Loads?

Welcome to the forum. I use 26.6gr of Benchmark with the 34gr Dogtowns. It's the same load I use for the 35gr Bergers at about 3520fps out of my 22 inch barrel. A 26 inch barrel will up the speed to about 3850fps.

Re: BR4's vs 205M's

Thanks guys. Just gave the last of my CCI 450's to my brother. I think i'm going to see if I can safely get them 35's up to about 3700fps in my 22" barreled Predator for a hunting load. I have a bunch of ladder loads for my LRPV ready to go as well. This year my Savage Predator in 204 is going ...

Re: Leupold V-X II

I have a old turretless 2.5-8 Bausch & Lomb Balvar 8A made in Rochester New York. Here's a few pics of the B&L. It's clearer than the pictures show because of the fog and rain today. It's a nice scope( I love the tapered crosshairs) But it's not even close to the clarity of a Bushy Elite or ...
