As Glen Asher said, I like anything that goes bang! And, in my book, that includes .22's on up to the .375 H&H. I dearly love both my .204's and they get a lot of work fending off the sage rats, badgers and rock chucks. However, some of my other rifles get jealous, so they have to come out once ...

acloco Wish I could help you with the Pentax but I have no experience with their scopes. I do have a couple of older Pentax SLR cameras and they take excellent pics. Have you taken a look at the Nikko Sterling Nighteater Platinum scopes? I recently bought a 4-16x44 SF for $180. Really nice and clea...

Make me number four. I also use a progressive for pistol and shotgun, but not for my centerfire rifles.
Call me old fashioned, but I weigh every powder charge and visually check each round before it gets into the ammo box.
Been doing this for 40 years; it works for me so why change?

KVW I have received load data from Walt in the past. He uses Quickload to generate the data. If you're not familiar with Quickload, it's a great tool but there are a number of variables you need to specify for your particular rifle. Since Walt doesn't have all the specifics, all he can do is genera...

acloco Thanks for sharing the story and photos. Great job with the camera. If I could only remember to take mine with me  . Hopefully I will remember and will be able to share some rock chuck photos. Shooting sage rats is mighty trying for my old eyes. Rock chucks are a much larger target alt...

Verminator2 I absolutely will NOT buy Remington .204 Ruger brass. Don't know whether I got a bad lot, but my hunting partner and I both bought 4 bags of 100 each at Sportsmans' Warehouse. The neck walls were so inconsistent in thickness that I couldn't even neck turn them and get the necks concentr...

Nice going. Every once in a while, we all need to fall into that proverbial sewer pit and come out smelling like a rose  .
As Guy M and Rick pointed out, take care of the old boy. It'll be well worth what ever you spend.

Savage Accutrigger Question

I just picked up a Savage 93R17 FV in .17 HMR for my grandson.....he's only five right now so maybe I'll have to play with it a bit before he gets it  Anyway, the manual says the Accutrigger is adjustable from 2 1/2 lbs to 6 lbs. I followed the adjustment instructions to the letter hoping to g...

I own three Howa's; .204 Ruger, .22-250 Rem both SS HB and a sporter in .30-06. Two of the three had great triggers altho they needed some adjustment before I got them where I like them. The third one had some creep that I just couldn't get rid of. I installed a Timney. Great trigger! No creep and s...

I got wrapped up in the response above and forgot to comment on the ducks. Nice pair :D . After the comment I made last week about your duck pond, you really came thru. Great work!

Hawkeye Joe I too shoot a Ruger 77/17. However, I did some trigger work on it and put a Green Mountain Fluted Heavy barrel on it. Also did a glass bedding job on it to make sure it was mated just so with the laminated stock. It will shoot under 1/2" at 100 yards when I do my part. I usually li...

Va varminter I have a Howa 1500 SS HB in .204 Ruger and .22-250. With loads it likes, the .204 will shoot consistently in the 2's and 3's (if I do my part). The .22-250 will shoot Nosler 55's in front of a healthy load of IMR4064 in the 4's all day long. I've posted this group before, but here it i...

All you can do is wake up early and look out the window  I've got a very badly itching trigger finger and plent of .204 ammo loaded. Here's hoping for a nice da...

Hey Rick , nice photos as usual. You must have been some where away from here as we had a shoot planned for last Saturday and it was a complete bust. The weather really sucked. Wind, rain and some blowing snow (didn't stick to the ground). Of course, Easter Sunday was bright and clear as a crystal, ...

skipper I am in the process of building two new benches for my reloading room (I have a 40' long x 18' wide area over my 3 car garage). I am adapting plans I got out of the Jan/Feb, 2007, issue of Petersen's RifleShooter magazine. If you can't find a copy of the mag, I can scan, convert to pdf and ...
