Rick- If The Eastern Oregon Raptor Feeding Society needs an official professional photographer all you need to do is invite me to the event! The only caveat is that I get to swap rifles around with other guys to check out all the cool toys you guys have and I will drive you crazy tapping your reload...

If you look at the other recent post I have "Montana Trip - Photos" you will see a description of the camera set-up and technique used (someone asked the same question on that post). The one thing I will tell you about getting hooked on photography is that it is nearly as addictive (and fi...

Didn't see a single mosquito the whole time we were out there (which is fine by me!). As far as the 50 yard head shots go, the reason we were so close is not for the shooter with the gun, it's for the shooter with the camera (even with a big, expensive camera lens you need to be pretty close to capt...

Tom did perform admirably - we worked on that scene over and over until he had it just right. Unfortunately, as with most of his castmates, his show is a one time only performance.

What other sites did you link this to? There might be a couple of other good ones out there that I didn't know about.

These all all from my .204 using 39gr Sierra Blitzkings at 3850 fps. I can tell you that my .223 with 60 gr V-Max's at 2850 fps was every bit as destructive, but none of these photos were when that gun was being used. The most destructive of all was my dad's .22-250 with 60 gr V-Max's - don't know t...

Montana Flying Prairie Dog Circus

Posted by popular demand in a previous thread, here are more photos of the Montana trip we recently took. The prairie dogs out there are very talented in acrobatics, however they only seem to want to give one performance before they are all worn out (inside out, in fact) and you have to go find one ...

You are absolutely right about having a good time - met up with my dad and brother and a few other hunting buddies and had a blast for five days. My dad and I have had the good luck to hunt together all over the world for big game (Africa, Alaska, Montana, Texas, Quebec, etc.) and we both agree that...

Actually I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to mention the guy laying out in front of the other two in that photo. That shot is actually a posed photo - I arranged it that way because it makes for a nice composition (photographically speaking) but I would never actually shoot ...

The camera used is not something that most people would likely have laying around - a Nikon D2Hs. This is a professional digital SLR made primarily for shooting sporting events where high frame captures are needed. It shoots 8 frames per second which is how I was able to capture sequences like the o...

Montana Trip - Photos

Just got back from a 5 day shoot in Montana and thought I would post a few photos for other guys who are stuck in the east like me most of the time. 1) Here is our defensive position for attacking waves of rabid dogs: http://www.dkgphotography.com/nonweb/Ted_ed_dan.jpg 2) Here is my dad with his Wea...

Silverfox - Where did you find nickel plated jags if you don't mind me asking? I personally use Bore-Tech Eliminator which I really like outside the fact that it is very difficult to tell when you are done getting copper out of the barrel as the solvent is attacking the brass on the jag and turning ...

I am a big fan of the "dial a dog" school of thought myself after trying a number of different reticles. The beauty of this system is that once you dope things out for a particular cartridge and write it down you have it nailed for that set up from there on out. It is important to get a sc...

Hey Rick- Is it a safe bet that Garth hooked you guys up with those cool 100 Year Anniversary Leupold hats? Any chance you know where a guy could buy one? I stopped by their headquarters in Beaverton when I as out there last week and got a copy of the book that celebrates their 100 year anniversary ...

I can't live with the idea that the gun is that picky - my Remington LVSF was way more tolerable of various loads. Nothing was spectacular, but then again nothing was really awful (I'm beginning to wish I had not sold that gun). I think I am going to ditch this thing and try a Sako - in my book the ...
